National Farmers Market Network Request for Applications: Anti-Racist Toolkit for Farmers Markets Work Group Members

Virtual information session November 30th at 4pm ET

Applications accepted through December 13th

Farmers Market Coalition, in partnership with consultants Sagdrina Jalal and Nedra Deadwyler, is supporting the creation of an anti-racist toolkit for farmers markets. The creation of this toolkit will primarily be driven by a work group made up of and led by Black food systems experts, with FMC serving in a supporting role.

The toolkit will both examine farmers markets at a high level, identifying the ways that policies and systems have contributed to making farmers markets predominately White spaces, and provide practical tools and resources for market operators to examine and adjust their internal structures and policies to be more anti-racist. FMC envisions this toolkit being structured similarly to the Farmers Market Legal Toolkit, with multiple methods of delivery (checklists, videos, case studies, worksheets, etc).

We are now seeking applications for Work Group Members. For more details of the commitment, qualifications, compensation, and application, visit FMC's employment page.

Want to learn more about what we’re looking for in Work Group Members or have specific questions about the project? We will be hosting a live information session on Zoom, November 30th.

InTents: The Farmers Market Conference 2021

Who attends this event?

Current and prospective farmers market participants: farmers, food makers and farmers market managers. Municipal groups, nonprofits and policy makers that host or support farmers’ markets. Artists and crafters who participate in farmers markets will find some value, but many of the sessions are specific to food operations or market management

I already operate a successful farmers market. Why should I attend?

We think there's always something to learn about new methods of recruiting and retaining farmers and vendors, dealing with increasing costs and regulations, maximizing your marketing budget, and managing invoicing and paperwork. And it's always a good time when you network with other people in your industry. (They get you.) If you really already know it all, contact us about leading a session and sharing your expertise.
