DC-CAP is a non-profit organization working in partnership with the District of Columbia Public and Public Charter School Systems that provides counseling and financial assistance to students who might otherwise never have the opportunity to attend or graduate from college. DC public and public charter high school student is eligible for DC-CAP services, regardless of academic history, grade point average, family income, citizenship status, ethnicity, special education eligibility, delinquency or juvenile criminal history.

Any student applying to either of these scholarships, must complete the authorization form below.

DC CAP General Scholarship

Part II: Application available online

  • Awarded to graduating seniors from DCPS or DC Charter Schools (no residency requirement)

  • $4,000 to any two or four year colleges

  • A different scholarship is available for Ward 7&8 students

If selected as a DC-CAP Scholar, you will receive the following benefits:

- Up to a full-tuition scholarship* that covers tuition, fees, room, and board costs.

- Renewable scholarship support based on student satisfactory academic progress.

- A campus visit sponsored by DC-CAP during Spring 2021.

- Pre-college programming to prepare you (and your parent or guardian) for the transition from high school to college.

- Extensive programs and services from DC-CAP and the University Partner focused on academic, career, financial aid, and personal advisement & counseling.

- Continued support services provided by a dedicated, on-campus Advisor.

In order to be considered for a scholarship opportunity, you must complete this application (along with supplemental documents) and the University Partner(s) Admissions application by the specified deadline.

Only one DC-CAP University Partners Scholars Application is required to be considered for all of DC-CAP's current university partners. This application is exclusive to DC-CAP University Partnerships and is not valid for the DC-CAP Scholarship program, Ward 7 & 8 Scholarship program, or any other scholarship opportunities provided by DC-CAP.

The DC-CAP / University Partners Scholars Application deadline is Sunday, January 31, 2021.

* The full-tuition scholarship requires collective funding from DC-CAP, DCTAG, Institutional Gift Aid, and the Federal Pell Grant program. In some instances, students must contribute up to the maximum federal Pell Grant amount (currently equal to $6,345 for the 2020-2021 academic year) towards direct costs. Students can use federal FSEOG or loans; private scholarship(s); and/or family contribution in lieu of maximum federal Pell grant eligibility.
