Admissions Reps
Welcome College & Scholarship Representatives!Â
Please see below for information about our academic program offerings at Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS.
College Rep Visits
UPDATE: WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR COLLEGE REP VISITS FOR THE FALL 2023 SEMESTER.Â
Thurgood Marshall Academy is happy to host rep visits during the SY 2022-2023 application season. Typically, visits are scheduled using Rep Visits; however, this year, we are encouraging counselors to email collegecounseling@tmapchs.org to request a visit. Please note that we still encourage meeting with a counselor to share information about your school or provide us with brochures or literature that we can share with our community.Â
Please note that the Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS college counseling office believes in an anti-racist and equity-based approach to college admissions and counseling. Our population consists of the majority of students who have been historically excluded from the higher education experience. In determining college visits and curating our students' list, we examine a college's admission practices when it comes to the robust nature of test-optional and other equitable policies. We also examine the utility of barriers such as demonstrated interests and additional requirements for justification of admission, beyond the traditional measures.Â
We encourage you to consider working with our students if your enrollment practices truly go beyond the language of "holistic" admissions and instead lean into an equity-based admissions process.Â
Academic Program
Thurgood Marshall Academy PCHS transitioned back to our traditional school schedule and standard grading practices. We are 100% fully in-person and will adjust as the health restrictions permit. Â
However, we were not immune to the staffing challenges experienced by many across the country post-virtual learning. We had to scale back on our Advanced Placement course offerings severely. As a result, the class of 2023 did not have AP Calculus AB or AP English Language and Composition in their course offerings. We continued to offer a robust amount of dual enrollment options and revamped our standard college prep English IV curriculum to be more aligned with a college-level topics course. Please consider this when evaluating our students.
Thurgood Marshall Academy has a block A/B schedule where classes meet for 80 minutes on Mondays - Thursdays and a full A/B 40 or 80 minutes schedule on Fridays. Students are required to be in school for 180 days and 1080 hours during the school year.
Mondays and Wednesdays = A Days  Â
Tuesdays and Thursdays = B days
80-minute classesÂ
Fridays (full days) = AB DaysÂ
80-minute classes for double blocked classesÂ
ELA, math, science, social studies (9th & 10th)Â
40-minute classes single blocked classesÂ
Electives,11th, and 12th
Please see our calendar and bell schedule below
