Homework packets have started! They went home today, Friday, September 4th, and will be collected the following Friday, September 11th. September's Reading Logs went home on Tuesday, September 1st, and will be collected at the end of the month on Wednesday, September 30th!
READING LOGS:
Keep Reading Logs in your child's Student Planner at ALL times (especially at the end of the month, as they are collected straight from their planners to be graded)!
Your child should complete 20 minutes of independent reading daily. Please record progress on the provided Reading Log.
Reading Logs will be collected at the end of each month.
Reading Logs HAVE TO BE kept in their Student Planners (there is a pocket at the back).
A Reading Log sample is shown below.
MATH FACTS:
These start in the second quarter, and I will show you a sample packet at Parent-Teacher Conferences. A packet will be sent home with all the information you need to practice for each week's number. We start with + packets, and once your child has mastered all +'s, they'll get a new packet (a - packet). Your child should practice their Math Facts daily! They are tested on whichever number they're at every Friday.
GREY FOLDERS:
Sent home Friday with completed/graded work. Please take the work out and return the folder empty next Friday with completed homework. Turning in this GREY folder is your child's responsibility, so if you see that their homework wasn't graded and no completed work was returned to you, they forgot to turn it in! Have them bring it in on Monday.
STUDENT PLANNER:
Sent home daily; it is to go back and forth between home and school. Spelling words are written in the planner each week to be studied at home. Their Reading Log should also be kept in the back pocket.
