We finally arrived at our destination and it was straight up onto the Canopy walk and suspension bridge to look at the birds, flying squirrels monitor lizards. After a hearty dinner there was some time to socialise and the climb into bed to be ready for the service work with the Orangutans tomorrow.

What a great day we had yesterday after a short bus ride to the local water villages we spent the morning interacting with the locals. We ate lunch at one of the houses then set about cooking our own deserts called Penyaram and Onde Onde. We then sat and created grass birds out of leaves. After checking into the Riverside Lodge we managed to hang out in the pool before another great buffet dinner. After dinner we played the Canoe Crocrodile game before winding down getting ready for bed and another day of service activities tomorrow
Thursday....

This was one of the best days so far and was absolutely packed. The dream team was quickly put onto service activities as soon as we had finished breakfast. Working with a local charity organisation we made sustainable fish traps, Hornbill Houses for the local threatened species. These were really hands on activities that requires some imagination and lots or hard work. Then after lunch we help to regenerate a local forest by replanting trees. The charity has recently repurchased the Land from the palm oil industry the had originally removed the Forrest.
Then it was straight into the river safari where we were able to watch a whole host of monkeys and birds in their natural habitat. The highlight though had to be the 3m monster crocodile we followed.
Then it was time for dinner followed by a quick game or Orangutang, Hornbill and Sunbear tag before settling in for the night.
Back to Kota Kinabalu tomorrow!
