Fantastic day on the water today! Our kayaking kiddos learned new skills and conquered challenges. The giant flotilla was awesome to put together! We learned about how it’s important to protect the mangroves and take care of our environment, as well as our kayak partner!
Group 1
Heigh ho, heigh ho! The students demonstrated perseverance while hiking over three mountainous peaks. The spectacular views of Hong Kong greeted the group from all the different viewpoints. Exploring the tunnels with flashlights and headlamps was exciting, with tales of soldiers hiding out in the kitchen during the raids. As before, we practiced our wildlife safety protocols by keeping ourselves at a safe viewing distance from the monkeys.
Group 2
Our day at the organic farm was full of hands-on activities! We used our five senses to explore the fresh crops, including planting some sweet potato saplings. Students learned about how art and science merged to produce photogram prints. Finally, we learned about the importance of the goats and companion planting that support the delicate balance of biodiversity. And we cooked our own lunch!
Day 2
We started our second day in Hong Kong bright and early. The students enjoyed some morning stretches and ate a hearty breakfast before heading out for the day.
Group 2
It was our turn to hike through Hong Kong history! Our 10km hike included various highlights, including look out points, monkeys, and tunnels. Our master storyteller, Chris, used his acting skills to engage our students in mini-role play of different historical characters. The weather was perfect! Our students demonstrated open-mindedness, resiliency, responsibility and risk-taking throughout the day.
Group 1
The weather stayed windy throughout the day, but the Grade 5 students persevered and collaborated throughout the different challenges. Students learned to work together in teams to paddle around the water. We linked up together to make a bigger flotation device with success!
Group 3
Great day at the organic dragon fruit farm! The students enjoyed goat feeding, tomato picking, and sweet planting. Purple cauliflower was all the rage in the beautiful dishes with the student chefs in action!
