Career/College Advising:
Matriculate - Free virtual college advising to HS students. Applications are open until August 31, 2025 at bit.ly/MAT26Apply! They provide trained mentors to help navigate the college application and financial aid process.

Freshmen:
IHAPI - I Have a Plan Iowa - will be working on in school. This is a College and Career exploration and help site.
Spring - we have mock interviews for 9th grade students to practice their interview skills.
Sophomores:
Job Shadow - Students can sign up for a job shadow this spring to do in-person or virtually. It is a great way to learn more about a career, spend time with a professional, ask them questions, and make connections! Go to kirkwood.edu/wlc, click on Job Shadowing to explore options. Application is not open but will be soon.

Spring Kirkwood dual-credit courses will be available to register for on NOV. 3rd! - These are online courses that will satisfy a prerequisite credit in college but they will also receive a credit for at Tipton. They are FREE for students!

ACT - Usually taken in the Spring. Go to https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html to register or get information on dates. Many colleges are waiving the ACT, so you can check with the schools you are interested in to see if this is a requirement. However, many schools also offer scholarships based on scores from the ACT. All tests given at Tipton will be paper tests. Sign up for the NON-writing test!
Internship - Students can sign up for an internship at kirkwood.edu/wlc. They will get some hands on experience and see if they are still interested in that career. For the internship, you will be working with a business for 40 hours in a career you are interested in. You will receive 1 credit hour from Tipton H.S. if you complete all the requirements.
Seniors:
Job Shadow or Internship - Students can sign up for a job shadow or internship this spring. Job shadows are either in-person or virtually. A job shadow is great way to learn more about a career, spend time with a professional, ask them questions, and make connections! An internship requires you to work and get hands on experience in a career for 40 hours. When the internship is completed successfully, the student will receive 1 credit hour from Tipton HS. Go to kirkwood.edu/wlc, click on either Job Shadowing or Internship to explore options.
ACT - We offer the ACT at Tipton in the Fall. Go to https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html to register. FAFSA - This Federal Financial Aid application should be filled out by ANY student that is thinking about or planning to attend ANY type of college. This includes technical, community or 4-year colleges. Applications can be filled out starting on Oct. 1st at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. I, along with an ICAN representative, will be available on Nov. 15th to help parents fill out the FAFSA. Iowa College Aid - Students planning to attend ANY college after High School can also fill out our state College Aid form - you can fill this out with the FAFSA but information regarding this is at https://iowacollegeaid.gov/IowaFinancialAidApplication.
