If your network equipment from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is limited to the amount of wireless devices that you can connect to, it could be your rented router has a limitation into the amount of devices that can be supported.

Most router equipment, that you can purchase, eliminates these barriers as the result of microprocessors that you ISP equipment is lacking.

You pay plenty for internet service from your ISP. If you want better services and coverage, it is best to use your own equipment.

Which ethernet cable should I use?

Since most equipment today uses 1gb (gigabit) ethernet ports, cat 6 ethernet is perfect for this speed due to the amount of shielding used. Cat 5e cable can work but it can only be used for shorter distances (less than 25 feet).

DSL Phone Cord

When you purchase a DSL modem, the telephone cord (between the wall and the modem) is similar to what you would use on a telephone. There are companies (including Amazon) that provide a High Speed DSL cable that resembles ethernet cable with better shielding. This may improve your DSL internet services. Especially if your cable modem and the wall is more than 6 feet away.
