Google Classrooms

A useful step by step guide to using google classrooms: Instructions for using google classrooms

  1. Use google chrome.

  1. Open up a google homepage

  1. Click sign in

Use sign in details as an e mail address – This will be first name then second name@tilian.org.uk (no spaces)

e.g rachelbishop@tilian.org.uk No capitals to be used.

PLEASE NOTE! – These do not have the function of an e mail. No one will be able to contact your child using this address and they will not be able to contact anyone either.

  1. You will now see this screen. You need to accept this.

  2. Now click on the matrix box in the right hand corner on the web page.

  3. Find the icon – Google classroom.

  4. You will then see this message. Click CONTINUE.

  1. Your child now needs to click on I’M A STUDENT

  1. You will now be asked to join your child’s class.

  1. You will now see a feed. This will be updated as your teacher posts messages and assignments. (Work to complete)

  1. You will see three tabs at the top of the page. – Stream Classwork and People. Your child will need to access the Stream (this will show them updates from their class teacher) Your child will need to access Classwork to see the work set for them.

When you click on the assignment, you will be able to see the instructions set by the teacher. Click on the set piece of work to open and complete this.

  1. Your child could be asked to complete a quiz, a written form, upload photographs, worksheet, a play based activity, games, read power points or drawings.

Here is an example of a quiz.

  1. If they have completed an online piece of work set by the teacher – e.g a form, quiz or questionnaire. There will be a turn in button in the right hand corner ‘turn in’ or a ‘submit’ button at the bottom. Make sure you click these to send it to your child’s class teacher.

  1. If you have taken a photograph of learning, this can be uploaded directly to the stream. (This works a bit like a facebook post – You are able to attach photographs and communicate on here.)
