Aims

Aims

At our school we believe that children are ‘Learning for Life’ supported by a Christian ethos which fosters their physical, intellectual, moral, social and spiritual development.

We believe that our school philosophy is embodied within our aims. We see these aims as a checklist against which we can evaluate our teaching.

We aim to:

  1. Create an atmosphere which is positive, welcoming and conducive to work where children learn to live, work and play happily together, understanding, respecting and tolerating each other and where children can experience a feeling of security and stability.
  2. Encourage children to exercise choice and take decisions with self- confidence and to express their own points of view.
  3. Develop a strong, positive partnership between home and school, recognising the importance of clear, open and honest communication and to seek to have a good relationship with the community.
  4. Provide a broad and balanced curriculum, relevant to the society in which the children live, using first hand and secondary experiences in order to help the children acquire basic skills, understanding and knowledge in all areas of the curriculum.
  5. Make Bardwell School a happy and stimulating place to be, where the individual is valued and where all children are encouraged to strive for excellence in all they do.
  6. Provide an environment in which the children may grow to become sensitive members of a multi-cultural society, recognising the equality of all people irrespective of race, sex or cultural background.
  7. Provide an equality of opportunity for all children to realise their potential and seek to provide for their current needs as well as the skills and knowledge to live well in their adult lives.
  8. Produce a school timetable and daily routine which will allow children to produce work of quality and depth, and which will meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
  9. Create a school that will seek to care for its environment and buildings and to offer an attractive environment in which to work, and to welcome people.
