Food is an important part of our daily lives and a valuable life skill that we should all have. This course is an exciting and creative course which focuses on practical cooking skills to ensure that students develop a thorough understanding of nutrition, food provenance, and the working characteristics of food materials. At its heart, this qualification focuses on nurturing students’ practical cookery skills to give them a strong understanding of nutrition. It encourages students to cook, enables them to make informed decisions about food and nutrition and allows them to acquire knowledge in order to be able to feed themselves and others affordably and nutritiously, now and later in life.
Year 7 and Year 8
Part of the Key Stage 3 Rotation.

Hours per week: 2
Exam board: AQA
Students will be taught 12 cooking skills that they will apply over the course embedded within 6 topics.
Students will complete an NEA (Non Examined Assessment) and a final written exam, both completed in year 11.
