Cambridge National Creative iMedia lessons in Year 9 are an introduction and insight of what the overall course will consist of. This overview helps develop an overall understanding of the expectations, course content, structure of the controlled assessments, and exam content.
Towards the end of Year 9, students will begin the controlled assessment for " R095: Characters and Comics". This unit explores how to plan, create, and review comics which contain original characters.
Year 10

During the first half of Year 10, students complete the unit "R095: Characters and Comics". This unit explores how to plan, create, and review comics which contain original characters. Completing this unit will introduce the foundations for further study of a wide range of job roles within the media industry.
"Unit R093: The Media Industry" exam content is also introduced, and reviewed again in Year 11. This includes learning about the media industry, digital media products, how they are planned, and the media codes, which are used to convey meaning, create impact, and engage audiences.
Later in Year 10, students begin "R094: Creating Visual Identity and Digital Graphics". They will learn to apply the concepts of graphic design to create original digital graphics which incorporate their visual identity to engage a target audience. Completing this unit will introduce the foundations for further study of a wide range of job roles within the media industry.
Year 11
Hours per week: 2
Students in their final year of Creative iMedia complete and submit unit "R094: Creating Visual Identity and Digital Graphics".
Students then continue their preparation for the "R093: The Media Industry" exam. This is a culmination of all of their skills and knowledge procured over the previous two and a half years, where students will understand the media industry, digital media products, how they are planned, and the media codes which are used to convey meaning, create impact and engage audiences.
