Year 1

         Piet Mondrian 

Year 1 learnt about the artist Piet Mondrian who was born on 7th March 1972, in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. His father and uncle were both artists, this meant that he was exposed to art from a young age. He began to study drawing at the age of 14. 

Year 2

         Banksy

Year 2 learnt about the artists, Banksy who is the most famous England-based, street graffiti artist, political activist and film director whose real name and identity is not known.

Year 3

         Esther Mahlangu 

Year 3 learnt about the artists, Esther Mahlangu who is a South African artist. She is globally acclaimed for her bright, bold, large-scale contemporary paintings that are inspired by her Ndebele heritage. She is one of South Africa's best known artists.   

Year 4

         Zubeida Agha

Year 4 learnt about the artists, who was among the first Pakistani Modern Artists. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, she was the first artist to hold an exhibition of her paintings. She helped bring the modern idiom to Pakistan.

Year 5

         Sita Devi

Year 5 learnt about the artists, who was an Indian artist, specializing in painting in the Madhubani tradition. She was one of the first to receive national recognition for the art form, receiving a number of awards for her work. 

Year 6

         Claude Monet

Year 5 learnt about the artists, who was born in Paris in 1840. He grew up in Le Havre, a port in Normandy, and demonstrated great artistic talent from an early age. 

In Paris, Monet and fellow artists experimented with painting the effects of light while working outside (‘en plein air’).
