Checkout Policy:
Students may check out books once they have turned in a signed library contract from their parent or guardian and have reviewed library expectations.
Kindergarten library visits focus on developing library skills and responsibility. Therefore, they will not be borrowing books this year.
Students in grades 1st-5th may check out as many books as their grade level.
1st grade- 1 book
2nd grade- 2 books
3rd grade- 3 books
4th grade- 4 books
5th grade- 5 books
Only 2 graphic novels may be borrowed by a student at any given time. So while a 5th grader can check out 5 books, only two may be graphic novels.
Books may be kept for up to 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the book will be considered overdue unless returned or renewed.
Students are expected to take care of their library books and prevent damage or loss. If either occurs, the student must pay for or replace the book in question before borrowing any more library books.
Library Visits:
Lower Campus
Students visit the library once every two weeks for 30 minutes. During this time, they learn library skills, participate in read-alouds, and have the opportunity to borrow books.
4th and 5th Grade students have the opportunity to apply to be Library Helpers, where they will assist Ms. Stowe with library tasks during one recess every other week.
Library Expectations:
Be respectful, responsible, & cooperative.
Always use walking feet in the library.
Enter and exit the library quietly.
Return books on time and in the same condition as when checked out.
Take great care of books:
-Keep food and drinks away from books.
-Keep books away from pets and little children.
-Use a bookmark while reading. Avoid folding corners.
-Do not write or color in books.
-Always have clean hands while using books.
-Keep books away from water.
