The assessments are worth 50% of your qualification
The assessments will be based on a choice of tasks released by Eduqas annually.
Assessment 1: Duration 8 hours
Food investigation: A scientific food investigation based on knowledge, skills and understanding in relation to scientific principles underlying the preparation and cooking of food.
Assessment 2: Duration 12 hours
Food Preparation: You will prepare, cook and present a menu which assesses your knowledge, skills and understanding in relation to the planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of food.
Mind map the core knowledge of the subject, Section 1, Basic mixtures and recipes Section 2, Commodities Section 3 using the revision guide book.
Work through exam practice workbook testing yourself. [GCSE food preparation and Nutrition [grade 9-1]
Build work cards on the 5 nutrients needed by the body. Write notes underneath on functions, sources and deficiencies for each nutrient.
Practise past exam papers and underline the command words for every question asked. Time yourself according to the mark allocated for each question and practise answering the question.
Keep yourself hydrated and get some fresh air in between your revision.
Never read a textbook without note taking as revision. Always have a notepad and jot down key points for every topic .
Use your classwork exercise book to revise what you covered in class since Year 10 and up to date.
It is important that you are getting enough sleep throughout revision [10 hours max].
Switch off from your mobile phone when seriously revising. Get into the habit of spending a good amount of time without looking at your phone as this is very distracting.
Use the glossary to practise the food terminology repeat and sound the words to yourself.
Use sample questions and answers with commentaries to understand a Model answer and a Weaker answer. Read pg 131 Revision Guide text book by Jayne Hill [Eduqas GCSE]
