POLICY for WEATHER-RELATED Class Cancellations: "SAFETY FIRST"
Here is what we share with the PARENTS:
Refer to the class REMIND platform for a CLASS ANNOUNCEMENT if weather is threatening.
Coach will send an announcement AT LEAST 1 HOUR PRIOR to the start of class, if possible. *Call the pro shop of your partner course, if applicable, in case anyone shows up or calls them.
If we cancel due to weather, the coach will also state their plan for the make-up class. We are required to make-up ONE class that has been canceled due to weather. Make-up options (at the coach's discretion) include:
Adding a class to the end of the season (after week 8) - same day and same location
Adding the time missed over several classes (example: for classes that are 1 hour long, coach will add 15 minutes to the end of 4 upcoming classes or 30 minutes to 2 upcoming classes)
If a second class during a season has to be canceled, we will send a digital assignment to families within a day of the missed class (via REMIND and email).
If 3 or more classes are canceled due to weather, we will discuss the protocol on a case-to-case basis. Chapter admin team will make a decision and communicate with the families directly.
We will refer to local golf course policies regarding lightning, thunder, and high winds.
Days with excessive heat, plan on having class. Please ensure your child wears light colors and brings plenty of water. We will take extra water breaks in the shade on hot days, but will try not to cancel. Parents - please use your discretion and make the decision to attend on hot days based on what is best for your child.
If a participant chooses not to attend a class, a make-up is not provided.
*If you cancel a class for personal reasons, please do your best to find a substitute. Reach out to Jennifer for assistance with this. If the class has to be canceled because a substitute is not available, a make-up class MUST be scheduled by you.
