We are looking for coaches and volunteers – all experience levels are welcome (ages 18+)
You must complete an application and screening process, which may include an interview about your skills and interests, a criminal background check, and character references. You will also receive training about your volunteer or coaching role, behavioral expectations, and child protection.
As you consider volunteering for our chapter, know that the safety of our kids is our first priority. Please read our Prevention Policies to see how we conduct programs and activities at our chapter.
FIRST TEE JERSEY SHORE - Coach Responsibilities:
LEAD COACH:
Attend all coach trainings
Agree to continue training on Coach’s Journey
Lead your team and be comfortable with delegating the responsibilities
Delivering First Tee curriculum to a class and “commanding the room”
Represent our chapter in a positive light
Excellent communication skills (team, kids, families, admin)
Responsible for Parent communication via REMIND (especially for inclement weather and make-ups)
Responding to chapter leadership in a timely manner
Communication with site management (closures, aeration schedule etc.)
Responsible for COACH App attendance
Responsible for BADGING and challenge weeks
Creation and implementation of Lesson Plans and delivery of Key Commitments (as per National Curriculum)
Understand the mission and philosophy of the First Tee
Comfortable with communication on site with families
Mandatory reporter
Ensure safety of class: safety of kids, location, and incident reporting (as needed)
Take ownership of class and class management (behavior modification & plan)
Observation by Program Director ; updates to Program Director as needed
Advanced Golf skills (according to age specific class)
Enjoy working with kids
1 year Assistant Coach experience within First Tee
ASSISTANT COACH:
Attend all coach trainings ; (optional) pathway movement within Coach’s Journey
Comfortable working in a team environment and receiving directives from Lead Coach
Comfortable giving lead coach feedback after class
Assisting with creation and implementation of Lesson Plans and delivery of Key Commitments
Comfortable with communication on site with families
Can step in as lead, if necessary
Ensure safety of class
Responding to chapter leadership in a timely manner
Understand the mission and philosophy of the First Tee
Assist with set-up/breakdown for each class
Represent our chapter in a positive light
Advanced Golf skills (according to age specific class)
Enjoy working with kids
PAID COACH:
ACT + Level 1 trained
8 week commitment
1 day a week
Lead or assistant coach responsibilities
Attends coach training led by our chapter
Full support with the before & after set-up/clean-up (half hour before and after)
Complete required admin tasks (Coach App, payroll form, W2s, etc)
Assist with planning the lesson for the day
VOLUNTEERS:
8 week commitment
1 day a week
Assistant Coach responsibilities
Attends coach training led by our chapter
Assist coach in any capacity deemed necessary
Special Events support (clinics)
