CAMP COUNSELOR
Dates: June 23, 2025 – August 29, 2025
Commitment: Minimum of 4 sessions (Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
Pay: $16/hour
Status: Temporary, Hourly

Who We Are:
Joppa Hill Educational Farm is a nonprofit educational farm committed to preserving a working farm that provides enriching educational experiences, fosters community connection, and cultivates a shared appreciation for New Hampshire’s agricultural heritage and natural environment. Our Farm and Forest Summer Camp provides children with the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow in a supportive and fun environment surrounded by our 35-acre farm and trails.
Application Deadline:
Those interested in being a Camp Counselor should apply by March 1, 2025. Those who apply by then will be given priority, and will be notified within the next two-weeks for an interview. Any applications received after April 1 will be considered if spaces remain available.
Farm and Forest Camp is an opportunity for campers and staff to strengthen their connection with our natural environment. Staff should inspire curiosity, respect, and care for the natural world by fully engaging in activities and modeling enthusiasm for outdoor exploration and farm life. Cell phones will remain out of sight during camp hours, except for emergencies. The main office is available for necessary technology use as permitted by the Camp Manager. This focus helps foster meaningful connections with campers and the environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist Camp Teachers in preparing for daily activities.
Interact positively and enthusiastically with campers, help them complete crafts, activities and maintain a positive attitude throughout the day.
Ensure camper safety and well-being by supervising groups, keeping track of campers during activities, and adhering to health, safety, and emergency protocols.
Role model positive communication and leadership for Leaders in Training.
Monitor health and allergy requirements, ensuring campers' needs are addressed during activities, snack times, and meals.
Maintain awareness of specific requirements for each camper, as outlined in their profiles.
Address behavioral concerns proactively and constructively, following established camp guidelines to ensure a positive environment for all participants.
Promote group cohesion, keeping campers together and engaged as a team during transitions, activities, and group discussions.
Support individual campers, providing one-on-one attention when needed to help them feel included and supported during their camp experience.
Lead crafts, activities and games for campers in the afternoons and in extended care.
Other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and safety of the camp.

Who should apply for a Counselor position?
This position is for highly-motivated teens (16+ years old). Farm and Forest Camp Counselors are enthusiastic about working with children, have a love of the outdoors, and are interested in enhancing their leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, decision making, confidence, and creativity.
