The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is part of the state testing program. California has chosen the FITNESSGRAM® as the annual PFT for students in public schools. The FITNESSGRAM® is a comprehensive health-related fitness test developed by The Cooper Institute. The main goal of the test is to help students in starting life-long habits of regular physical activity.

CA Education Code Section 60800
The State of California requires that all students in grades 5, 7, and 9 are to participate in the FITNESSGRAM to the best of their physical abilities.
Students with physical disabilities are required to participate in the exercises that they are physically able to participate in.

How Does the PFT Help Our School?
Ensures we are meeting established standards for physical fitness assessment
Assess levels of health-related fitness
Needed to meet charter renewal requirements
How Does Blue Ridge Facilitate The PFT?
There will be approximately fifteen In-Person Locations for the PFT throughout LA and Ventura County.
In-person locations will take place in February and early March to allow time for make-ups in March.
Who Leads The PFT Event?
The PFT Events will be led by Blue Ridge HSTs
Your HST will reach out to you in early December to schedule your test date
If your student does not attend an In-Person PFT Location, a make-up test will be given. Your HST will schedule this with you.
