LIBRARY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When are my Lending Library items due back?

A: We have extended our check out time. Families are now able to check out materials for the duration of their time with Blue Ridge if they choose to take advantage of our renewal option. Families will be notified when their current loaned items are due, and will have the opportunity to either return or renew their loaned material. You may return them at any time by requesting a shipping label or scheduling a drop off time.

Q: Can I only select from the library closest to me?

A: You are able to choose items from either location. Please keep in mind that if you select items from more than one location, you will need to place an order in Procurify for two separate shipping charges (one fee per library).

Q: How many items can I check out at a time?

A: Each student may have 30 items checked out at a time.

Q: I don’t want to pay for shipping, can I still check out items?

A: Yes. You can arrange to pick up your items at the San Dimas or Acton location. We will arrange for a specific day for you to pick up your items. There will be a phone number posted on the front window to text when you arrive and the items will be delivered to your car. Please do not arrive until you have been notified your items are ready for pick up.

Q: What if my library items are missing pieces or damaged when I receive them?

A: All of the material that we loan at the library is USED material. Please keep in mind when you are borrowing items that there might be missing or gently used pieces in your order. We do our very best to select the best option for your student. In the instance that you are missing pieces or unsatisfied with your order, please contact us and we will do our best to help. We are still unable to refund any UPS charges as this is an outside vendor, but you may feel free to return your items to your HST or in person as to avoid the cost of having them shipped back to the library.

Q: What if items are missing pieces, damaged, or lost after I have checked them out?

A: We ask that families please return items in the condition they were received. Any lost or damaged items may result in loss of check-out privileges.

Q: What kind of materials are in the library?

A: We have novels, picture books, readers, curricula in all subjects, games, manipulatives, music equipment (all in Acton), science experiments, parent resource books, and items for different electives.

Q: Where can I find a list of the items I have on hold or on loan?

A: On the catalog home page near the top is a blue link that says ‘My Account’. Click this link and your items will appear on this page.

Q: Are there restrictions on items that we can borrow from the library?

A: We will not be able to loan out duplicates of items to one student.

A: We ask that families are mindful of their student's age, and choose items that are developmentally appropriate for their students.

A: Our library has "specialty items" that can only be loaned to students with the correlating class specific to their item request on their current MA.

Q: Do I need to fill out a return sheet when I return my library items?

A: No. When you return your items we will scan the BRA barcode and your account will be credited with the return.

Q: Where does the Lending Library get it's items?

A: The Lending Library works closely with the HSTs to process all Enrichment returns. When enrichment items are returned, we remove them from your inventory list, catalog them, and prepare them for check out by the next family.

Q: Can I come into the library and browse your items?

A: Unfortunately, that is not allowed at this time.

Q: How long do I have to pick up my order?

A: 14 days from the day you receive the notification letting you know that your order is ready.

Q: What are "specialty items" and who can check those out?

A: "Specialty items" are items that can only be checked out if there is a course noted on the student's "Master Agreement" that directly correlates with the item. Before

checking out a "specialty item" is authorized, the HST will need to submit a copy of the learning plan that includes the

requested specialty item to the library staff, and it will need to be reviewed and noted in the student account.

Q: Can I ship my items back to the library on my own?

A: Yes, but we need you to provide the tracking number for tracking purposes. Please only ship materials to either the San Dimas or Acton location.
