If you need to get an important message to a member of staff, the preferred method is by email. Staff will check their School emails on a daily basis, usually in the evening. Mrs Redfern is available on:
redfernjr@thebluecoatschool.com
Our emergency mobile contact numbers are 07594 088775 and 07594 088774, but please be aware that we may not always have a strong signal, so email is more reliable.
The children do not need to bring mobile phones. They can be an unnecessary distraction, and are also a potential danger (eg theft). In the past it has been found that excessive contact with home can be counterproductive and only serve to make some children more homesick.
Mobile phones are NOT covered on the school insurance for the trip. However, if parents wish to have mobile contact with their child then phones may be brought. Mobiles will need to be clearly named and fully charged - chargers are not to be brought. The phones must be handed in to a member of staff on the day of departure. The phones will be kept secure and issued to the pupils once a day; usually after dinner and before evening activities at around 19:00 CET. There is also a payphone at the centre, and staff will have mobile phones in case of emergencies.
Please be aware that pupils will not be allowed to Skype or Facetime either each other or back to the UK.
