Students had the opportunity to see the play THE MOUSETRAP, performed live, at the Center For Performing Arts.
After we saw the play we read Christie's classic mystery novel:
AND THEN THERE WERE NONE.
Christie is quoted as saying that she gave herself the ultimate challenge when writing this book, to write a mystery where everyone dies.
We watched parts of the classic film in addition to reading the book.
Students were given the following prompt during the reading of Chapter 9. At this point we still don't know who the murderer is, although several of the people on the island have already lost their lives.
Write a diary entry from one of the character’s perspectives after they realized that someone among them was a murderer. Make sure to identify the character’s point of view you are using. Be creative!
Include:
Diary entries begin with the date, usually written in the top right corner.
Then, the introduction sentence would start with some kind of general sentence about the day or a
general sentence about your state of mind.
Example: Today was terrible…., I am very excited…
The main part of the diary entry, write about:
what happened to you
how you feel about it
what do you hope to happen?
End your diary entry with some kind of final remark about the day or your feelings.
Example: I feel better now that I have written everything down.
