Shrinking Availability of Fresh, Clean Water
On the oceans, which looked like a gemstone from the distance, the time-travelers discovered traces of oil and big parts of the oceans were covered with strange materials, which they could not identify at once. When they come nearer they identified it as big collections of discarded plastic, at some places more than 10 meters thick. Also, the beaches were covered with huge collections of wasted materials and when they got ready to land on the planet Earth, they suddenly discovered a little child, reaching between the garbage to fill a jug from a pool of murky water.
One of the problems is pollution of bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, seas, the oceans, as well as groundwater. It occurs when pollutants reach these bodies of water without treatment. Waste from homes, factories and other buildings get into the water bodies. Water pollution is a problem for the species and ecosystems there. It affects plants and organisms living in the water. The color is usually green or brown but normal water can be blue. There are many chemicals that are naturally found in these bodies of water that are bad for you.
Our second problems is wasting water. Even now, one third of the population doesn’t have enough water. In fact, humans killed lakes, and produced deserts. But people don’t do anything about it and because people waste water there are droughts and floods. If this situation keeps going on, we’ll soon run out of clean, fresh water.
