In connection with our Figures from the Future project, we created slogans to help people think about their actions that affect the environment and the limited resources we have available. These slogans are to be shown around the city reminding everyone that Reducing and Reusing are important steps to think about before needing to Recycle. Hopefully these slogans help to change the future imagined with the Figures from the Future.
I picked the slogan because it had lots of similar meanings and it tells the reader the problem as well as the result of the problem.
The meaning of the slogan is that green forests aren’t everything, but without the environment there is nothing. This means that if the forests are cut down, we would not have anything.
I would put it near some place with trees, like the garden. I chose this place because the people walking by would probably not be in a hurry. It might not work because most people go home quickly at night.
I hope to accomplish more awareness for what people are doing. For example, people use paper only on one side. Instead, they could use it on the other side or recycle it. They throw away the plastic that could have been reused. Instead, they could have reused the plastic wrapper, or they could have thrown it in the recycling bin.
My german slogan was “Es ist cool, es wiederverwenden” which means It is cool to recycle. I chose this slogan A) because it was closest to my english slogan and B) When I travel, anywhere I go I see trash and I don't get to see it as it really is. If everybody did reuse/recycle then there would be no more litter or wasted trash.
I think an ideal place to put my slogan would be on a building next to a trashcan or in a very busy area where a lot of people litter. This would be a good place because then people would think about what they’re rowing away and if it should be recycled. I didn't have any special connection to his slogan, I just chose it to make people think and to keep it in their mind. When showing the slogan I hope to make people be more careful with what they throw away.
When writing my German slogan it was more challenging. It was challenging because German isn't my native language. So I had to ask people who knew the language to make sure it made sense. I chose the same wording as my English, then translated it to German. I had the help of another student when doing this process. I chose to direct the meaning of the slogan on trees because it is a topic that isn't spoken about much, and if we take away trees it will be harder to breathe.
My English slogan was “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” To make sense in German it is, “The waste of a man is earth's treasures”. I chose this slogan because there is always something on the ground that someone could pick up and make something out of it and maybe sell it or use it themselves.
If I were to pick one spot to project this slogan it would probably be in the center of Erlangen. I say this because when I go there, I see a lot of trash everywhere. With this slogan I hope that I encourage more people to up-cycle a lot more.
I have picked this slogan because I made a lot of changes while making on it and improving to make my slogan much better. The meaning of the slogan means to save energy for the future and also to care a lot about the environment and how much responsibility needs to be taken by people. It even shows how to solve the problem using energy that will not run out. The slogan I made has also relation to other slogans which are made by my other classmates in class.
I would project the slogan in a city surrounded by a lot of people walking and passing by the slogan, it would impact people by showing it here, so that people would understand how much energy is used in the city and how important it is to save energy and watch out for the environment.
My German slogan says water is scarce. I am trying to tell people that water is not endless and if we use to much we may run out. We need water to survive and if it goes away we all die. I am not sure where the best place to project this is, as water is used everywhere. When people see this slogan I hope that they think about how much water they use, and it reminds them not to waste it.
I chose this slogan because it looked more basic and better for the world to look at. It had only one color background. This made it more easier to see because if you have a picture as background it is distracting. I liked the German poster more because it was a portrait poster and that made it stand out more. I also chose this because I had the more basic pictures to choose from. The slogan means “if it's gone, it's gone. ” For example, if you throw petrol or coal away it’s not renewable and doesn’t just turn into soil. So I was trying to say somethings can't be renewable and to stop throwing away not renewable things. My two examples on the bottom of my poster are coal and gas which are not renewable. I would put it somewhere you can see it like next to a post or next to a bench where people would rest and they then would see it and read it.
I picked my slogan because I recently watched a TV show about polar bear and realized how serious this problem is. Polar bears can not move to oceans because the ice is not frozen yet and so they are starving on land where there is no food for polar bear. My German slogan is “Rette mich. Fahren Sie lieber Fahrrad anstatt Auto.” with a polar bear picture. This means ‘Save me. Use cycles instead of cars.” The reason why ice is not freezing quickly is because the temperature is too warm even in Antarctica for ice to freeze. And so if we use bikes instead of cars, the pollution will be less and the earth will cool. My ideal place to beam my slogan is a location where there are many cars. For example, like parking lot. I hope people use cars less and ride bike when they are only going somewhere close.
My German Slogan was “Sauberes Wasser rettet leben” which in English is “Clean Water saves lives”. I chose this because I thought it was simple but highly beneficial. The slogan is showing that clean water can keep people from dying and not to take it for granted because most people would die after two days without water. This could go anywhere because everybody needs to know about it and think about how to reduce the amount of water they use.
I chose this slogan because I thought that I could get some nice fonts and some good backgrounds to go with it. I also chose this design because if in the future we run out of resources we will not be able to do anything. My slogan is telling people that “Less is More, Resources are not Infinite.” This is saying that we cannot keep on wasting resources because they will run out.
I would like to project it on a clear surface and avoid green buildings at all costs. This is because the background of this is completely green and will only show up well on white surfaces. I hope to make Erlangen not use so many resources and conserve them.
I picked my German slogan because I made it and I like it. I like to make very cringe slogans because to me, cringe is very funny. The meaning is you use so much energy that it is very shocking. People also get shocked because of electricity so it seemed to connect. A place I think that is an ideal area to put the German slogan is in front of a power plant or in front of an heavily populated city. I think that a power plant is a great place to put this message because a power plant is the area where power is produced. I think the message would go great in a heavily populated area because more people would see it. With this slogan I hope to accomplish having energy in 2525 and beyond!
I had no personal connection with the slogan. I choose the “sei Himmel blau” because it had a nice ring to it and also I think its an important message also I chose this slogan because I still want the sun to come out. The sun is important because it gives you vitamin D. The slogan means that we should stop using cars and use public transport or bikes. If we continue polluting the air, does the sun really want to come out if the air is dirty? Ask yourself this. I would project the slogan somewhere near a business building because these buildings lots of people walk past and so lots of people would see it. I hope that by showing the slogan people will stop using their cars to go everywhere. Instead they will be taking their bikes or public transport.
