Thalami - is the plural of Thalamus which is a part of human brain that connects Cortex in the brain to various senses in human body.

The etymology of the word can give more information about the origins of the word, and why it is anatomically relevant to use it to describe the part of human brain using this word. However, it must be observed that the language Thamizh (Language spoken prominently in South India) uses similar word to describe the role of a person and that word provides more context (See Menu: International - Other Languages > Thamizh).
