Current Event 

This year there will be an ongoing current event assignment. Students will be asked to find an article either in the newspaper or online from a credible newspaper source (such as Time.com, The New York Times, Newsela, or any other reputable publication). Please see the worksheet template linked on Google Classroom and the grading system it follows. Current events will be monthly as described on the due date schedule linked on Google Classroom. Students will be given paper copies of the worksheet and are expected to digitally submit or print their articles to use in class. Please note that the worksheet needs to be handwritten, not typed. The goal of this assignment is to read informational text, utilize reading strategies, and to develop a greater awareness of the world around them.
