Classroom Rules and Expectations:
Be respectful of the teacher, classmates, and classroom.
Come to class prepared with your necessary materials, work, and charged chromebook.
Stay focused, follow directions, and participate.
Do not be afraid to ask questions.
Give your best effort every day!
Grading Criteria:
There are three grading categories:
Tests and Essays
Quizzes and Projects
Classwork and Homework
Each assignment will be graded on a points scale and factored into one of the categories.
Assessments:
Tests and quizzes will be announced in advance and may be given at the end of chapters, units, and novels.
Projects will be assigned: some work will be done in class and at home.
Essays will be graded using the same scoring guide the state uses as well as rubrics generated by the 7th grade teachers. Students will receive a copy of the rubrics.
Classwork will be graded to ensure accountability. Students will not be given the opportunity to retake or re-submit assignments. Any classwork that is not completed in class is expected to be completed that night for homework.
Homework will be graded on a points scale. The points available will be proportional to the work assigned. Homework typically ranges from 5-10 points.
Students will lose points if the work is late or is not completed in a satisfactory manner. One point will be deducted for each day late.
Homework will not be accepted more than 1 day late.
A Current Event will be due on the last Tuesday of every month.
Student Absentee Policy:
When students are absent, they are held responsible for all work, homework, projects, and tests. They will be given a reasonable amount of time to make up missed work. Any assignments that are given will be posted on Google Classroom.
Chromebooks:
Students are expected to bring their charged Chromebooks to class everyday. Students are responsible for charging their Chromebooks at home each night as well as reporting technical issues with their Chromebooks.
