Continuum of Services

Gifted and Talented Students are identified throughout their educational experience, and may take part in a variety of the services that are offered at various grade levels. The following services are offered in addition to the differentiated instruction that exists in the regular classrooms. For the gifted learner, that differentiation may include, but is not limited to, varied instructional time, modifications in assignments and materials, alternative forms of assessment, various grouping strategies, small group and independent work to meet the learner's needs.

  • W.I.N. ("What I Need") (K-5): Students are identified by the classroom teacher for enrichment on a bi-weekly basis. Services may be provided by the classroom teacher, or other staff members specializing in the area of enrichment.

  • Specialty Groups (Gr. 1-2): Students are nominated by teacher to explore an academic area in further depth for a unit of time.

  • In-Class Enrichment (K-3): All students participate for one trimester.

  • Academic Competition (Gr. 4-5): Students meeting academic criteria are invited to join the competition teams.

  • TEAM Cluster Grouping (Gr. 3-5): Pull-out classes for identified students.

  • Advanced ELA Program (Gr. 6-8): Students may be identified in grades 5-7 to enroll in the advanced class for English Language Arts Literacy.

  • Advanced Math Program (Gr. 6-8): Students may be identified in grades 5-7 to enroll in the advanced class for Mathematics.

  • Advanced Math Program - Geometry Cohort (Gr. 6-8): Students identified at the end of Grade 5 for a compacted mathematics curriculum, culminating with Geometry Honors in eighth grade.
