The TESDA R02, Regional Training Center is situated within the Regional office in between the National Food Authority and Department of Health, about eight (8) kilometers away from the city proper.
It is the only training center in TESDA Region 02. It has two hectares land area with thirteen buildings. The Regional Training Center was put up through the initiative of now Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos who was then the National Chairman of the Kabataang Barangay during the administration of his father, the late Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos. A total of P14,000,000.00 was allotted for the construction of the Center.

MANDATE
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is the government agency tasked to manage and supervise Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD) in the Philippines. It was created by virtue of Republic Act 7796, otherwise known as the “Technical Education and Skills Development Act of 1994”. TESDA RTC 02 leads in Developing Diploma Program Standards for Diploma in Refrigeration and Cold Chain Technology
Makati City – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center (RTC) 02 played a pivotal role in the development of Diploma Program Standards (DPS) for 17 Regional TVET Innovation Centers (RTICs).
Spearheaded by Administrator Venancio T. Balisi, with the support of Diploma focal Rogelio C. Rambuyan, Sr. TESD Specialist Mary Jane T. Eslabra, and Curriculum Focal Lea R. Macababbad, the RTC 02 team collaborated with 41 other RTICs to establish DPS development teams and conduct capacity-building sessions.
The workshop focused on establishing DPS development teams for each RTIC and conducting capacity-building sessions. The initiative was undertaken as part of the Supporting Innovation in the Philippine TVET System (SIPTVETS) Project and took place from July 22 to 26, 2024, at the Tiara Hotel Oriental, Makati City.
This step underscores TESDA's commitment to providing students with the necessary skills to excel in the growing refrigeration and cold chain industry, contributing to the overall development of the country's economy.
