9th Grade Interdisciplinary Unit
Telluride Mountain School - September 2023
The 9th grade began the year with a 3 day/2 night retreat at High Camp. The students participated in Art, English, History, Science, and Social Emotion Learning programming all centered around concepts of place and perspective in their summer reading of Braiding Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Back at TMS, the students were instructed to find their own special place near home like they did at High Camp. There, they documented their experiences in Art, wrote about their sensory interactions with place for English, and ruminated on past perspectives of their site for History.
