Tui and Wheke Room’s (YEAR 1 STUDENTS)
Reading Tasks:
Please read one of the books on the Ready to Read online bookshelf each day, students will need adult help with some texts, there are some class favourites like Greedy Cat and Bubbles: (click the yellow button link above, choose a book title from the list, then click the round 'text' symbol to open the book)
Each day choose 1 new letter from this list ( s, a, t, p, m, d ) and find 3 things at home that start with that letter sound. Draw a picture of the things you find and practice writing the first letter sound under your picture. Try your best to write a sentence to match your picture. e.g - The soap is slippery. Read your sentence to two people in your whānau bubble, can you match each word carefully with your finger when you read it. Send a photo of your great work to your teacher :)
Play the game ‘I Spy' with people in your whānau bubble. You can use colours and the first letter sounds of things to play. e.g “I spy with my little eye something that is blue!” Or “I spy with my little eye something beginning with the sound d, d, d”.
Retell one of your favourite stories, or a story you just read, to someone else in your home. Think about what happened at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end.
Pick a character from your favourite book and draw them. Use 3 words to describe them.
Choose 3 of your pink words, and write them (in a sentence if you can)
Write your name out of sticks (or something like them). Repeat with some of your pink words if you like.
Choose a page in any of your books and describe what's happening in the picture.
Design and name your own superhero. What are their secret powers?
Read your favourite story from the pack to someone else in your family (if you can, read it online or make a video and send it to someone you love)
Make a picture book of your own! Add a little bit more to it each day. Think about the beginning, middle and end of the story.
