Home Learning 2022
Click on the Year Group for your child to Open New Home Learning Pages for your tamaiti
Click on the menu on the Top left and select a subject area. Reading, writing, math and technology are divided into your child's classroom. Here you will find all the tasks and information you will need for your child to Learn at home with your support.
We have also included some other pages that will help keep children learning. Please remember to limit their TV time and make sure children are playing inside and outside. We have included some recipes to make slime and play dough.
Board games are a great way to keep children engaged.
Simple ball games are important too, catching and throwing is an important skill to learn. Set up targets to throw a tennis ball or see how far you can throw different things- like a gumboot.
Please keep an eye on your classroom Facebook pages and the school Facebook page as we will set up fun challenges each week for children to master at home.
MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE- Don't worry about your child regressing in their learning. Every single kid is in the same boat and they will all be okay. When we are back in the classroom, we will all course correct and meet them where they are. Teachers are experts at this! Don't pick fights with your kids because they don't want to do math. Don't scream at your kids for not following the schedule. Don't mandate 2 hours of learning time if they are resisting it. If I can leave you with one thing, it's this: at the end of all of this your kids' mental health will be more important than the academic skills. How they felt during this time will stay with them long after the memory of what they did during these 4 or more weeks is long gone. So keep that in mind every single day. Make memories that last a lifetime.
Online Learning- Please follow the two following links that the Ministry of Education has developed to support students during this time. The Ministry will be adding resources to the sites during the 4 weeks lock-down. There is a English Medium site and a Te Reo site.
