Scale
In Phase 4, we aim to recruit and train 50,000 diverse leaders, with a disproportionate focus on leaders in schools.
In Phase 4, we aim to recruit and train 50,000 diverse leaders, with a disproportionate focus on leaders in schools.
After a few years of stable growth, we are planning to scale again, and here's how:
Grow the Fellowship cohort by 10% year-on-year, with an equal focus on bringing in high-quality talent
Recruit diverse leaders, including those who share the backgrounds of our children
Lower the attrition of our Fellowship cohorts from 15% to 10%
Expand to 3-5 sites, starting with Kolkata this year!

As we scale the Fellowship and attempt to make our cohorts more diverse, we will also work on providing early immersion opportunities through a few new programs.
The Student Fellowship is a year-long leadership program, co-created and co-facilitated by Students that can be used by any school or Student to foster leadership. Over the next 3 years, we plan to:
Create a lab to build the Fellowship Curriculum with 20 Students
Pilot the Fellowship in a few schools in Mumbai
Launch the Fellowship across all our regions

The Volunteer Program aims to bring in additional leaders into the movement, and act as a pipeline for the Fellowship and other aspects of our work. The Volunteer Programs would have two versions:
Glimpse: 1-2 day programs to give an overview of educational inequity, Teach For India's model and impact. These would be targeted towards corporate donors and influencers.
Immerse: 2-3 month program to bring people into our classrooms and offices. These will be targeted towards young professionals and college students.
We are currently running a pilot in all of our regions with 2500+
volunteers across the country. We will be taking learnings from this to build out a robust Volunteer Program, which will launch in April 2022.

We began TFIx in 2017 to scale the Fellowship Model to the most remote regions in the country. Since then, we have incubated 22 Entrepreneurs and successfully launched 18 Fellowships. These entrepreneurs are impacting 62,000+ children from 13 different states across the country through 877 Fellows and 289 Alumni. Few things that have been unique to TFIx's work has been:
Reaching the most vulnerable children: 15% of children that TFIx Entrepreneurs work with have added vulnerabilities such as children of sex workers, children with disabilities, children from conflict zones, etc.
Diversity: 70% of the children that the Fellowships are reaching today, are from rural or tribal areas, and 40% of the children are not even a part of the formal schooling system.
Local leadership: 15 out of the 22 Entrepreneurs have 75% local Fellows in their Fellowships.
All of this has given us conviction that TFIx is our growth model to scale beyond regions where Teach For India works directly in. We are now working with Teach For All to draw a roadmap for TFIx in Phase 4, with clear unifying principles and goals for Entrepreneurs to launch and sustain their Fellowships in the long run.

In line with Phase 4, Firki is thinking about scale and reaching many more teachers in the system. In order to achieve this, the team will pilot a few ideas in the coming year:
Structured virtual learning program for teacher coaches
Testing the feasibility for an online B.Ed Program
Leveraging InspirED as a single annual Teach For India event
Firki launched the teacher coach program pilot in September 2021 with 100+ teacher coaches. This is a certified opportunity for teachers and teacher coaches designed as a 3.5 months long immersive course, delivered through a blend of online and offline learning spaces. The curriculum includes an introduction to Teach For India, a vision for an excellent education, how to coach effectively, data driven decision making, and program design and delivery.

InnovatED is Teach For India's platform for incubating entrepreneurs looking to build impactful organisations in education. It has been one of our most successful programs, receiving 50+ NPS every year. In Phase 4, we will continue strengthen the InnovatED model to support and build a culture of social innovation, incubate 100+ Alumni Entrepreneurs, enabling them to become stronger and sustainable to shift the needle for our children.
