Note: If you already hold a valid teaching license or will graduate in the Spring with one, and it is recognized by the state of Arizona, you do not need to enroll at ASU.

3. Order 3 degree-conferred transcripts: Instructions
Deadline: as soon as your degree is conferred, but NO LATER than June 17th (First Day of Pre-Service)
4. Complete your IVP Fingerprint card application: Instructions | Received card? Upload here
This step will be completed in the spring when you are enrolled into AmeriCorps. Please look out for further information concerning this action item.
Once you have attended your appointment and/or sent your IVP packet, you can track your status on the Arizona Department of Public Safety Website.
5. Applying for the Alternative Teaching Certificate is the last step to being classroom ready. You will complete the following steps in June when all other action items are complete. You will need your IVP card number and conferred transcripts in order to apply.
Go to https://certification.azed.gov/
Create an account and then log into account
Choose “Apply for a New Credential”
5. Review the steps and click NEXT
6. Choose “I want to apply for a Teaching, Administrative, or Professional Non-Teaching certificate” and click NEXT
7. Choose “Teaching Certificate: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, or PreK-12 Teaching (Art, Dance, Drama, Music, Physical Education)” and click NEXT
8. Choose “Alternative Teaching: I will be teaching while enrolled in an Arizona Board-approved educator preparation program” and click NEXT
9. Choose your desired credential (elementary K-8, secondary 6-12, etc.) and click NEXT
10. If you choose secondary 6-12, the next page will ask you to choose a content area (English, science, etc.) and then click NEXT
11. Click ADD TO CART and then click CHECKOUT
13. Follow the next steps listed on the page:
a. Step 1 – Review requested services
b. Step 2 – Apply for additional services (Optional) – You do not need to do anything here
c. Step 3 – Mailing Address and Contact Information
d. Step 4 – Background Questions
e. Step 5 – Upload Supporting Documents:
-Upload Alternative Program Enrollment Letters
f. Step 6 – Application Summary – Agree to terms and proceed to checkout
14. Pay for certification through pay portal
15. Have official transcripts with your Bachelor's degree conferred mailed to Arizona Department of Education, Certification Unit PO Box 6490, 1535 W Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85007 OR can be emailed to certification@azed.gov
16. ASU will be sending out your Alternative Program Enrollment Letters shortly. IF you have already applied and submitted for your alternative certification you can go back into your online account and into your open application. There will be a tab that will allow you to upload additional documents. This is where you will upload your Alternative Program Enrollment Letter
17. Email Tony Best at tony.best@teachforamerica.org to share that you have completed all of the above steps
18. Once you have received your alternative teaching certificate make sure to email it to your respective HR Departments AND upload it to the following Teach For America BOX folder: TBD
