Honors Science

6th Grade Science Course Description

As sixth-grade students become more aware of their environment and their natural curiosity is easily stimulated. Students are provided opportunities to learn important scientific facts and to build conceptual understanding of scientific principles, laws, and theories. During this class, emphasis is placed on: building a positive attitude toward the continued learning of science; communicating science with appropriate symbols and language, remembering the language of sciences crosses all international cultures, and developing patience and perseverance when solving problems. It is essential that students come to class prepared and ready to actively participate in science class and take responsibility for their learning.

6th Grade Curriculum Emphasizes the Following Content:

  • Scientific Method and Problem Solving

  • Structure and Transformation of Matter

  • Motion, Forces, and Energy

  • Earth and the Universe

  • Ecological Interactions

  • Living Organisms

Supplies you will need:

  • Charged Chromebook and Charger.

  • Earbuds or Headphones (Optional)

  • One 1 Subject Notebook (Spiral or Composition)

  • Writing Utensils every day in class:

    1. Blue and Red pens,

    2. Mechanical pencil or Pencils and eraser, and

    3. Roll of tape.
