Rosey Snow: The protagonist, a young woman trapped in a dysfunctional fairy-tale world. She is a more grounded, sympathetic version of Cinderella, dealing with the absurdity of her situation.
Mr. Snow: Rosey's father, portrayed as lecherous and largely unaware or unable to help with his daughter's plight.
Mrs. Snow (Mama Snow): The demented stepmother who is pushy and driven to see her own daughters succeed.
Goneril & Regan: Rosey's stepsisters, named after the Shakespearean characters, who are generally portrayed as full of teenage angst and interested in boys.Â
The Prince: A bewildered, "perfect" prince who comes across as a "perfect creep" in this revisionist take. He is seeking a wife with his sidekick, the Troll.
Troll: A royal flunky who fell into a well while delivering invitations to the ball. The character is generally likable and confused, accompanying the Prince on his quest.
Mother Magee (Fairy Godmother): An ironic, world-weary fairy godmother who has seen it all and sings "salty old sailor songs". She provides the means for Rosey to attend the ball.
Zed: The so-called village idiot (sometimes referred to as Ned) who befriends Rosey. He is initially inarticulate but proves he is no fool and teaches Rosey how to dance.
