Kaleel Grantham
By Kaleel Grantham
Hello I’m Kaleel Grantham. I'm 15 years old, I am a student with part of TNW and I’m a football player. I play for the Sutherlin Bulldogs. I am a defensive end. This is my first year playing for this team.
In the future, I want to be a professional football player or a basketball player. and if I had one superpower. It would be teleporting.
And this is my summer.
June: School Is Out!
School is out. It’s the start of summer, and how else should you start the summer but with some swimming? At the start of training, I had swimming lessons Monday to Thursday. It helped me become a way better swimmer. I went from not knowing how to swim to swimming in a 12 foot pool.
Later in the month was the start of basketball camp that was three days long at the UCC community college. We played a lot of fun games and drills like passing, dribbling, shooting, and games like 3 on 3 and 5 on 5, games. As the third day of the camp was a college level basketball camp
There were way more advanced drills than the first two days. This camp was a little bit shorter than the first two days. But it was a great basketball camp.
July: Jr. Zookeeper
We just got back from a trip to Colorado, where we helped move my Grandparents from there to Oregon. Moving my grandparents from Colorado. If you want to know more about that, please read the article written by my brother Uriyah. to Uriyah Grantham article. Over the summer, I got to spend two days a week At the wildlife Safari is where I would spend two days a week, The safari is a fun place to be during the summer, Each Monday and Wednesday I got to take care of animals Some of these include: snakes, lizards, frogs, insects, hissing cockroaches, giant African millipedes, a tortoise and a rabbit.
The good part about being a part of the Junior Zookeeper program is you get to experience animal encounters and so much about different animals and habitats about how they survive. There is a lot of fun stuff to do at the Wildlife Safari as well as being a zookeeper. Other experiences include you get to do stuff for free lake camel rides, a ride on the Safari train and feeding the birds. Part of a Jr. Zookeeper’s job is cleaning the enclosures of different animals, making the food for the animals and even doing the dishes! do dishes.
After Junior zookeeper i started getting ready for football season by running, lifting weights, and prepping for the school year. I’m one of many freshmen on the Sutherlin Bulldogs and this is my first year playing football. It's going to be way more different than basketball, basketball is more finesse and less contact than football. During the second week of August, I had a football camp which was a glimpse into what we were going to see during practice. At the completion of camp there was a stack schedule stating if you miss 2 or more practices you will be ineligible from playing inside the practices play inside the jamboree game. I may be a junior varsity player, but football with the team and coaches who take it seriously is the best. I appreciate that the coaches and players take this very seriously.
Thank you for reading my article about my summer.
