Teachers are Getting Death Threats After Mocking Charlie Kirk's Death
By Lillian Battey
Halloween was pretty different for a group of southern Arizona math teachers this year. The teachers wore white t-shirts with black lettering saying, “Problem solved”, similar to the one Charlie Kirk wore the day he died (Charlie Kirk was a political activist and founder of Turning Point USA and was shot on September 10, 2025.) The teachers had blood on the left side which is known to be the side where Charlie Kirk was shot. The teachers wore the shirts on Halloween, as a math-themed halloween costume. The Vail school district apologized and said that they wore the same shirts last year. Fox10 Phoenix Ariz news reached out several times asking for a picture of them wearing the shirts last year and requesting an interview but didn’t hear back. “The teachers did not wear the costumes last year” says Arizona legislator “(In) Recent alumni, including my daughter, have confirmed these shirts were not worn by any of the math teachers last year. If this is incorrect, I would like proof.” says an Arizona legislator.” I am calling on Superintendent John Carruth to take immediate and decisive action: terminate the employment of every individual involved in creating, wearing, or permitting these abhorrent costumes. Anything less sends a dangerous message that hate has a home in our classrooms.” says Carruth.
Student Jayden Clasby say “I am very disappointed in it to be honest, like it's really disappointing that Charlie Kirk first said what he believed, and he believes strongly in something and that's a good thing and then he get shot and dies and then people still make fun of him and still disrespect him and it's just really disappointing to me. Yeah, I think so like it was in elementary school? High school, even then still. Like that is absolutely disrespectful. {The teachers}and they can act as innocently as they want. Literally just all points to the Criticism and making fun of one who died. They're like freedom of speech. I think they're just using math related costumes as an excuse. Like “problem solved". That's just like, really stupid and like that's just really not okay. “says Jayden.
Activists in Arizona have voiced their concerns about the teachers’ costumes. KOLD spoke with Kathleen Winn, the chairman for the Pima County Republican Party, who said, regardless of intention, the shirts were inappropriate for the classroom. “Whether it’s not political at all, you have a bunch of teachers in bloody shirts... high school kids are still impressionable,” Winn said. “With so much violence in our society and so much violence at the heart of most of the issues in this country, it seems a little tone deaf to me.” said Winn.
The Ariz legislator said “I must firmly reject any attempts to downplay this incident as mere ‘math problem-solving’ attire recycled from last year”. The legislator is not happy about this and wants the teachers who wore the shirts to be fired. Because there is proof that the teachers did not wear the shirts last year, and it's just wrong to mock someone's death. This is an ongoing story.
