Gift Exchange
By Josiah Stromberg
When Christmas time comes around, instead of just plain buying gifts for everyone, my family does things differently. Every Christmas Eve we put all of our names in a hat, then we draw a name. We go to the local Walmart or the local thrift store to pick out a gift. If we can’t find anything good we sometimes go online. On Christmas morning, we wake up excited not only to receive our gifts but also to give them. I believe Christmas is all about giving what Jesus gave to us.
One year while we were on vacation in Klamath Falls. My family decided that it would be fun to do the gift exchange on vacation, so we went to the nearest Walmart. I drew my older sister's name. My older sister is hard to shop for and being a boy makes it even harder to shop for a girl. I remembered that I heard my sister say that she needed some socks, so I went into the shoes and sock section and bought her some socks. I was a little skeptical as to why someone would want socks for Christmas so just to be safe I put the leftover money on a gift card. On Christmas morning when my sister opened her gift to my surprise, she was happy! So, all in all it worked out.
