Over the River and Through the Woods to Grandmother's House we go!
By Jayden Clasby
Family traditions are really what tie families together, it’s amazing to have some sense of direction and something to look forward to each year. Especially around the happiest, most stressful time of year.
In our family, we have a tradition every Christmas Eve. Each year, we go to our Grandma’s house and eat some sort of dinner, takeout, charcuterie boards, big meals. We also do fun games, like veranda santa (from Bluey) and just whatever else we feel like. We also open some presents there. Our cousins also come, which adds to the chaos but makes it more exciting. Sometimes my mom works on Christmas Eve, then we just wait until she gets off work until we do our festivities, she’s a nurse so she doesn’t get to really decide. Last year she worked on Christmas, so we did our entire Christmas day on Christmas Eve, along with our Grandparents house. I think my favorite part of Christmas is going to our Grandma’s house, or when we go home.
After we go to our Grandma’s house we go around our town and look at christmas decorations and lights, it doesn’t take long. After that, we go to our house and get into our Christmas pajamas, and we open our stockings. Then we go to sleep and wake up and it's Christmas!
