1. Discuss how one aspect of culture (e.g. technological change, the economy, family structure, etc.) has influenced language and/or language development.
2. Examine the role of culture in cross-cultural communication (e.g. in adjusting to different cultural norms, values and styles of communication, etc.).
3. What are the links between language, culture and gender/race/other social categories?
4. Explore the relationship between language and cultural identity (e.g. in preserving cultural identity, transforming cultural identity, etc.).
