Jan 2024

To all Grade 10 Science Students and Parents,

The curriculum requires that towards the end of the school year, students be given a culminating evaluation.  The evaluation must cover material from the year, and it is worth 30% of the final mark.

Attendance and completion are compulsory.  It is imperative that all students are present to complete the culminating activity.  Failure to attend on a given day will result in a grade of zero (0) for that portion of the culminating.  Extenuating circumstances will be dealt with confidentially with each student and their teacher.  Absence due to illness must be supported by a doctor’s certificate and the student must make arrangements immediately with their science teacher.

This year each, the culminating activity will be determined by your classroom teacher based on the needs and strengths of the class they teach.

Mrs. Michalak's culminating activity details.

Ms. Michalak's Culminating Activity is designed to give students practice preparing and taking exam in Science courses.  It will be composed of 2 sets of study notes and a test.  The study notes will be completed in class, using class notes and with teacher support.  Each study note  will be worth 10% each.  Dates for the study notes are June 5,6,7 (Biology package due on June 7th at end of class),10,11,12 (Chemistry package due on June 12th at end of class), and 13 (practice tests in class).

Students will complete and a final in class test covering Biology and Chemistry topics worth 10%.

Date of test is June 14th.
