Co-operative education placements are available at several major hospitals across the city. Students gain hands-on experience in one of several areas, which may include patient care, medical administration, pharmacy, or research/laboratory work, through structured daily tasks and integration days. TDSB partners with multiple hospital sites and manages the co-op application process on students’ behalf.
Note: Students are required to provide specific medical documentation prior to starting their placement, including a 2-step TB test.
Half day co-op (2 credit)
Business Connect is a co-op program that places students in professional finance and business environments, with a strong focus on banking, finance, and accounting, as well as select marketing roles. Through placements with partners such as National Bank, CFA Society Toronto, Kwantum Advisory, Ainsworth, Hilton, Eatable, and the Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation, students gain real-world exposure to how financial and business operations function across different sectors.
Options: Full-day co-op (4 credits) or half-day co-op (2 credits), depending on the placement.
Be Our Guest is a hospitality-focused co-op program that places students in restaurants, hotels, and customer service environments. Students gain hands-on experience in areas such as food service, guest relations, event support and operations, while developing strong customer service skills. This program is well suited for students interested in hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, or customer-facing careers.
Half day co-op (2 credit)
The Army Reserve Co-op is a full-day, one-semester program offered in partnership with the 32 Canadian Brigade Group. Students train as members of the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve, developing leadership, discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness in a structured military environment.
Students attend placements five days a week (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) and earn military pay throughout the program (approximately $15,000). During the semester, students complete all three levels of Basic Military Qualification.
Placements are hosted at Fort York Armoury, Denison Armoury, and Moss Park Armoury.
Note: Students must meet Canadian Armed Forces eligibility requirements, including medical, fitness, and background screening.
Full day co-op (4 credit)
xoTO is a co-op program offered through xoTO Schools, a partnership between the City of Toronto Film Office, NABET 700‑M UNIFOR, and the Toronto District School Board that gives students access to career talks, workshops, and real co-op placements in the film, television, and digital media industry. Students work alongside industry professionals and may be placed in areas such as lighting and grip, sound, picture editing, visual effects (VFX), color grading, film scoring/composing, costume and set design, props, makeup and hair, development, and film festival support - depending on industry demand and placement availability.
This program builds practical skills, professional experience, and industry awareness that support students exploring creative media careers or pursuing post-secondary study in film, animation, media arts, and related fields.
Full day co-op (4 credit)
Information and applications for centralized placements opens in May for students completing Co-op in the following school year (Semesters 1 and 2 of the 2026–2027 school year). Some Semester 2 applications open in November. Spaces are limited, and students are selected based on qualifying criteria.
