Health and Wellness Committee:
MGCI Talks Virtual Health & Wellness Group is a space dedicated to students to engage in discussions about mental health and well-being, share knowledge, and learn strategies and skills to support your overall health. The goal of the group is to destigmatize mental health and develop mental health advocates, encourage connection and relation between students, and cultivate and strengthen a school-wide culture of caring and compassion.
The Health & Wellness group will run several times throughout the school year via Zoom or Google Meets and will run on a weekly basis for a few weeks when it is active. Groups will be limited to 10-12 participants at a time. Topics discussed will be collectively chosen by the participating group members.
The program is facilitated by the Health and Wellness Committee which includes Vice Principal, Lorraine Sutherns, Guidance Counsellors, Kayla Akler and Jaime Yamashita, Teachers, Hannah Mahepath and Tharsi Yoganathan, Child and Youth Worker, Jaleel Smith, and Mental Health School Social Worker, Aimee Gomez.
For more information, please contact Guidance Counsellor, Kayla Akler, at kayla.akler@tdsb.on.ca.
