Are you currently in Grade 10?
Your Course Options for Next Year
(Grade 11)
Grade 11 students are expected to choose a total of 8 courses and 3 alternates. Students you must have earned 16 credits before a spare can be added to your timetable.
You have 2 compulsory courses to select this year, or 3 if you are an Extended French or French Immersion student. The remaining courses are electives chosen because of a specific post-secondary destination and/or because you enjoy that subject.
The following courses are mandatory: (click links to view Pathways)
English (NBE3U1 or NBE3C1)
Math (MCR3U1/5 or MCF3M1 or MBF3C1 or MEL3E1)
If you are in French, you must also choose:
FEF3U4 (Extended) OR
FIF3U5 (Immersion)
NOTE: Be sure to count your Extended and Immersion credits to ensure you have enough to graduate with your certificate:
Extended - 7 credits (8 for Honours)
Immersion - 10 credits (11 for Honours)
It is your responsibility to ensure you have the required amount.
The remaining elective/optional courses should be made with the following in mind:
Other diploma requirements (see myBlueprint)
Check to see if there are any other compulsory courses you are missing; for example group 1, or group 2, or group 3
Check that you have the prerequisites for the courses you are interested in
Educational or employment plans; many post-secondary programs have specific course requirements BEYOND the completion of a diploma. MyBlueprint has a great area for post-secondary information and it is never too early to begin your research into specific programs you may be interested in pursuing. See guidance if you would like individualized planning.
Students should consider their post-secondary destinations & maintain a breadth of course choices to keep their options open
NOTE: If you failed a grade 10 core course (English, Math, Science, History, Civics, Careers) you must put this into your timetable for next year. If you successfully complete the course in Night School credit recovery or summer school, Guidance will change your timetable for next year. This course will be selected from your alternates.
