We had a great day at the Rink. The Falcons played as a team and battled for the the puck. All 5 coaches are really proud of this group of amazing Hockey players. We beat Kimberly 11-1. Then we lost 2-1 to Balmy Beach... Their goalie was good. Then we beat Westwood 12-0... Turns out our goalie is better! We look forward to the playoffs
The grade 6 girls know how to Ralley. We had an exciting time at Nelson Mandela Park PS. We played really calm and controlled volleyball. Our set play really shined. So did all the falcons. It was nice to see everyone develop their skills this year. We look forward to playing the Island school in the playoffs.
The girls beat Island school in 2 straight sets. We made so many amazing plays work in our favour. We are now moving on to the South Conference Semi-finals!

The Frankland Falcons had a fun basketball season. A lot of our players were new to the sport this year. We hope all the practice sessions and the tournament play has inspired some of the Falcons to play basketball outside of school.
At the Frankland tournament we won 1 out of our 4 games. Game 2 and game 4 were really close and could have been a victory for the Falcons. I'm still thinking about that foul shot!
Thanks to Ms. Collins for coaching the team this year.
Go Falcons go

Sad to say our season came to a close at the quarter final level yesterday. The Falcons have so many talented soccer players this season. We played as a team in all 3 games. Sadly Hillcrest was able to score on us twice in the final game. Thanks to all the players for a fun season
The 4th Riverdale Classic Cross Country Race for students in grade 1 & 2 was a huge success. It was such a thrill to see 6 neighborhood schools at the event today. Thanks for getting your Falcon to all the morning training sessions so they could qualify for this event.

The Girls soccer team played 5 amazing soccer games at the Pantry Park Tournament. We were tied for second place going into our last game. Sadly Kew Beach beat us 2-1 and we came in third place.

Go Falcons Go
The volleyball tournament at Frankland was a huge success! The Falcons created some exciting rallies. Our serving was awesome too. Thank you to all the players who made this day so special. We ended up placing 3rd at the tournament.
We played an epic game against Hillcrest. We had the lead in the first 2 shifts. Then they were leading by 1 point. Then we took the lead in the 7th. In the last 30 seconds of the game Hillcrest tied it up and we went into overtime. Sadly Hillcrest beat us 18-14. It was such a thrilling game. We are happy we brought home the blue banner. Hopefully next year we can get the red one.
Ms. Van Gent's team played in the South Conference Semi-finals against Winchester. They ended up winning the first 2 sets. We played great volleyball with exciting rallies and awesome serving. The team traveled from the island to the game. We ended up having a pizza party after the game. Thanks for a great season
The basketball team made the Frankland history books today by winning the south semi-finals! The excitement will continue next week. Brown PS had a great team and the Falcons had to play smart, intense, basketball. Every player on our squad brought us the victory today. Our passing and rebounds looked excellent!
The Frankland ice hockey team was short players during the Quarter finals this week. We still played an amazing game. Nathan and Molly had some great shots on net. Brayden and Mitchell our goalies, kept us in the game the entire time. The final score of the Quarter final was 5-0. We kept shooting on their goalie, but the puck just would not go in the net. Thanks to all the coaches and parents who helped make this team happen!
Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball team who won 2 straight sets of Triple ball vs. Kimberley. Our serving and set plays kept scoring us points. Game 1 ended with a 25-8 final score. Game 2 got even sweeter with a 25-7 final score. The girls Volleyball team is headed to the South Conference Semi-finals!
The playoff are off to a great start! The Grade 5 boys took their home court advantage and capitalized. Each players added great defense. Earl Haig had a ton of great players, but the Falcon teamwork found the basket on some pretty impressive drives. Our rebounds and want for the basketball was unmatched. In the words of this squad.... "We cooked" Or "We cooked them". Old JediSykes might be getting the new basketball terminology incorrect. ;-)
With 2 wins and 1 loss, the Falcons are going to the TDSB Ice Hockey playoffs! We had a great day at the Rinx tournament. Brayden and Mitchell played amazing in net for us. Our defense was strong with Rowan, Jamie, Niko and Devon shutting down tons of attacks! The Falcon Forwards with Beckett, Oliver, Molly, Theo, Nathan, Nolan, Raf and Zayed had so many chances on net and scored a bunch. We scored 22 goals in 3 games thanks to great passing and some of the best skating and stick handling! Thank you to all the coaches who supported this team on and off the ice.
The Falcons owned the court at the Diefenbaker Tournament. We played like an NBA team. So many great drives. Our shooting was on fire and the rebounds scored us some well deserved points. Our zone defence was hard to break. Every player had all-star moments. It was great to see the teamwork and trust. I was really proud of our sportsmanship and never give up attitude. We looked incredible in our new jerseys.
Quarter finals here come the Falcons!
The Falcons had a great day, with 4 exciting games of Basketball. I'm really proud of this group. We looked like a solid basketball team on and off the court. I appreciate the support that the players gave each other. I hope this experience has created a spark for your Falcon to play more Basketball. Thank you to the grade 5 players for joining this team so it could happen for the grade 6 students this year. Thank you to the grade 6 players for your leadership and dedication.
With 1 win and 3 Losses today, Frankland placed 3rd at the tournament. The final result doesn't tell the story of how hard we worked as a team!
The Falcons played 4 commanding games of volleyball at the Frankland Tournament this week. We never trailed on the scoreboard. We went undefeated all day. Our set plays looked amazing. We created some of the best rallies. Congratulations to MS. Van Gents team as they advance to the Quarter Finals

The tournament today at Whitney was incredible. The level of play that the 4 teams brought to the court was amazing to see. Frankland’s squad got progressively better as the day went on. We had a number of really close sets. We are so proud of this group of falcons. We hope that this is the beginning of their volleyball adventure. All players are encouraged to try out for volleyball in grade 7. We no longer have practice in the mornings.
Thank you to all our parent drivers for getting us to and from the tournament today. A huge thank you to Ms. Van Gent for coaching this team. Her energy and focus was a welcome addition to the Frankland Athletics team! A special shout out to our grade 5 players who worked hard to support the team and build their skills.
The Frankland Girls Basketball team had a blast at the Winchester tournament. We played 4 exciting games. Our skills increased throughout the day. Everyone had a superstar moment. We had some unlucky bounces at the rim in game 4. It felt like an NBA final when we were winning against Roden in the last shift by 1 point. The scoreboard and the final results don't tell the story of how hard we worked on the court. Thank you Mr. Perada for coaching this team. We hope this experience opens the door for future basketball success stories!
Both Falcons teams are busy building their skills and getting ready for their tournaments.
Girls Basketball tournament is on Monday Nov 25th at Winchester JPS

We had 4 Faclons become CITY CHAMPS this year! Laura, Alison, Oliver and Brayden! Each runner gave an amazing performance at Sunnybrook. Coach Michael helped pump them up for their last 200m. We are very proud of this group. We can't wait for our spring running club!
The Falcons continue to be the best runners in the Riverdale area. This is the 3rd year in a row that all our runners excelled. We had 2 first place finishes, 1 second place finish and a bunch of Falcons in the top 10. Everyone crossed the finish line with a smile. Coach Micheal and JediSykes are so proud! We can't wait for next year
We had 15 Falcons qualify for this exciting event. The sun was shinning on Wednesday and so were the Falcons. We recorded 8 new Personal bests. Isabella and Ellis came home with second place medals. I was proud of the entire team. The City Finals are just around the corner and we have some Falcons running!
The Falcons had an exciting day at Monarch Park. In every game we played as a team. I was really proud of how supportive the falcons were. I also enjoyed their sportsmanship and determination. We played every game to the final second with 100% effort. Thank you Rowan W and Beckett for being our goalies. Henry and Raf… great goals. Rowan B fam, thanks for the treats at the end of the day. It was a real ‘pick them up’!
I hope the players who are new to the sport have found a new hobby. To the club players on the team I really appreciate your leadership over the last month.
The Girls Soccer team had a great day at the Pantry Park Tournament. We played 3 great games as a team. We won our first game. We lost the next 2. In the end we came in third place. So close to making it to the Quarter Finals.

Congratulations to the 7 Falcons who went to the City Finals yesterday. It was a fantastic event. The Grade 6 boys relay had 3 great Baton passes in their race. Sadly the North, East and West brought some fast racers to the cities. Brayden, Evan and Khloe tried their best to make the top 8. We are proud of their hardwork and dedication. Special shout out to Brayden who placed 5th in the 1500m, Robbie who placed 3rd in the 1500m and to Max S who placed first in grade 6 boys hurdles!!!
Hopefully every Falcon can watch the summer Olymipics this summer and get inspired for next season! Best wishes to our grade 6 Falcons who are ready to fly to middle school. Thank you to Coach Michael and Ms. Byca for helping me with the track team this year
28 superstars made dreams come true at the Conference Finals. We had an epic day! So many success stories. So many new PB'S. Having the entire hurdles team at the Conference Finals was really special. Co-ed Relay made history too! City Finals here we come!
49 Superstar Falcons went to Birchmount this year to represent Frankland. The weather was perfect for our first meet. The day started strong with 4 fantastic performances in the 1500m race. The day kept moving with our expert 80m sprinters, 800m runners and relay teams. We finished the day with the 400m and 200m events which highlighted even more of our running talent at Frankland. The excitement continued off the track with shot put, running long jump and standing long jump. Overall it was a great day. I can't wait to get all the results. When I do they will be posted outside the gym.
Students who placed in the top 4 will be moving on to the Conference Finals on June 5th.
The Frankland Swim Team had an amazing day at the Harbor CI Swim Meet. We had 28 Falcons on the team this year. Our relay teams swam in very fast heats! Our individual swimmers showcased some outstanding talent in their events. While we won't get the official results until Friday, the Frankland coaches are proud of this energic team.
The fire alarm during the event, which made all the team exit the school will always be a fun memory too!
If your Falcon is swimming at the City Final Mr. Sykes will email each family.
Thanks to the 12 Falcons superstars who played on our Co-ed Volleyball team this year. We played in a very exciting tournament at Winchester JPS. The home team owned the court, but the Falcons gave them a run for their money in the tournament final. We took it to 3 sets and almost made it to the South Quarter Finals. Our serving and set plays looked great. We created some outstanding rallies!
Happy to report everyone on this team is ready for grade 7 volleyball. I hope to hear about these future success stories.
Thank you for making this extra sporting experience so much fun for me and Ms. Byca!
We had a great day at the Frankland Volleyball tournament. Our serving was the best in the building! We created some really dynamic set plays and the support that the players gave to each other on the court was a dream come true. To see the growth in all the falcon's volleyball skills is the best part of my job.
We ended up winning every single game today, which means we are the tournament CHAMPS! So proud.
Another exciting season of basketball wrapped up today. Both the Yellow and the Orange team played energetic basketball this season. Our passing and shooting was incredible. the Tournament on Thursday was a blast. Rose Ave ended up being the tournament CHAMPS.
The South Conference Quarter finals was an exciting game against Wilkinson. Wilkinson got off to an early lead and the Falcons were not able to close the gap. Sadly some traveling calls in the first half and some missed shots slowed down our chance. I'm happy to report Jamie is smiling again after an elbow to the nose that took him out of the game.
I'm so proud of all 20 falcons players for taking their game to the next level. Thanks for a great season!
Orange Team 2024
Yellow Team 2024
Congratulations to the Falcon Ice Hockey team who made it to the Quarter Finals this year. The final score was 7-0 for Forest Hills. Thank you to Mr. Parsons, Mr. Bieler and all the parent volunteers for making this team possible. I know the Falcons had a great time on the ice.
Ms.Byca's Volleyball team had a fun day at the Norway Volleyball Tournament. The team was definitely cheering the loudest when I arrived in the afternoon. Ms. Byca reported great serving and set plays. I saw some outstanding rallies. The players used their volleyball toolkits really well. In the end, the team lost in the tournament semi-finals to Wilkinson. All players are welcome to continue their volleyball Training on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
The Frankland Falcons Ice Hockey team is having a fun season. We have won 2 games and lost 2 games. The playoff are within reach. Go Falcons Go!

Another Volleyball season comes to a close as Winchester beats Frankland in 2 straight sets. I truly believe we were the better team but the scoreboard doesn't always tell the full story.
We all know how much I admire and respect my Falcons. These 13 boys really stepped up over the last 2 months and added a ton of skills and knowledge to their volleyball toolkit. The volleyball adventure doesn't end here, in fact these last 2 months built the foundation for a big volleyball future for all the players on this team. I hope to hear that everyone tries out for their volleyball team in grade 7 and beyond!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you to Ms. Byca and Mr. Molina for helping me coach!
Thank you to our parent drivers who get us to all the events!
THANK YOU to Nicolas S. He helped the team during practice, time and time again. Today when we didn't have enough players and almost had to forfeit the game, Nicolas stepped up for the Falcons. I'm really proud of him. Joining a team in the playoffs is not easy. He fit right in!
Team work, team work, team work!!!! These 10 falcons played every game as a team. The support on the court was unmatched by the other schools. Our sportsmanship was also incredible. I was so happy to have the chance to coach this dynamic group. At the Morse Street Tournament we won 2 games and lost 2 games. Sadly we just missed moving on to the quarter finals!
I hope all the Falcons on this team continue to play basketball because we have so much talent and potential.
The Falcons had an exciting day at Earl Beatty. We started the day winning the first 4 sets. We placed 2nd in the round robin tournament in the morning. We played Norway's best in the tournament semi-finals. This 3 set game was a huge confidence boost! It rocketed us into the final against Kew Beach!
Kew beach was a next level squad, teaching the Falcons a few things about 3 touches and never giving up on the ball. Some of the best rallies happened in the final. The Kew beach crew handed us some heavy serves too. We kept the score close in both sets. Kew ended up coming in first and the Falcons came in second
Thankfully 2 teams get to move into the playoffs so we will be playing more volleyball later this week. So proud of this team.
The Falcons Boys Soccer team is the Best in the South. We celebrated our Banner achivement today with a pizza party and speeches! So proud of this group!
During the month of November the grade 6 Falcons will be getting ready for their Volleyball and Basketball Season.
Boys Volleyball has practice on Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8am

It was a perfect day for the Falcons to run at the City Finals. Brayden, Khloe, Elena and Robbie are officially our 2023 CITY CHAMPS! so proud of this group of dedicated runners. Sad that the season is over... Already dreaming about Track and field!
A special shout out to Brayden who placed 3rd today at the City Final!
We showcased some of the best teamwork and sportsmanship in the history of my time at Frankland. I could not be more proud of this exception group of young men! It was an absolute treat teaching this group.
Congratulations to the 9 Falcons who ran at the South Conference Finals this week. Coach Michael and JediSykes are proud of all our Falcon Runners. So many success stories. 8 NEW PB's too. These results are posted on the Athletics Bulletin board. It was a Fantastic day. City Finals here we come!
We had a great day at Withrow Park. Frankland's team of runners turns out to be the best in Riverdale. Holding on to 3 more first place finishes. Today's course is not an easy one. Every runner who crossed the finish line deserves ice cream or a treat that equals that.
44 Frankland Falcons ran at Sunnybrook on Tuesday Oct 10th. The weather was perfect! Our runners were more than ready to race and set new personal bests. The grade 3 team made us proud on the 1.5km course. Our grade 4 runners unlocked a new race distance of 2km. The grade 5 and 6 teams looked strong on the 2km course.
This year we have 10 Falcons moving to the Conference Finals! Congratulations to:
Zoey, Alison, Brayden, Max M, Oliver B, Elena, Khloe, Robbie, Max S and Alexander S
It's Pizza Time!!! The Girls soccer team played 3 amazing games today at Pantry park. We won 2 games and tied 1. In the end Wilkinson and Frankland advance to the Quarter- Finals! Because we scored more goals today, we are the top seed which is very exciting.
All the players on this team came together to make us successful today. We were unstoppable with our new cheer and Falcon spirit! Every player stepped up and grew as athletes. We played 2 games where the ball didn't even go into our defensive zone for a full half. Incredible!
It's ice cream time!!! We had a hot day in the sun at Nelson Mandela Park PS. The Falcons played as a team and supported each other on and off the field. We won game 1, 3-0 vs Nelson Mandela. Henry Z our goalie didn't touch the ball in this game because of our great defense! We tied game 2, 0-0 vs Davisville. They had some amazing players who challenged us and took our game to the next level. We had to play in the tie breaking final against Davisville to end the day. The final score was 3-0 because we played as a team!
History in the making! First time a boys soccer team has made it to the next level since I have been at Frankland. I could not be more proud of their hard work and dedication.

The Frankland Falcons had a great day at the City Finals! So many new personal bests. So many Medals! Thank you for a great swim season. Go Falcons go!
Congratulations to the Frankland Swim team. We had an amazing day at At Harbour CI. The pool was cold and the swimmers were fast. We had a few first place finishes. We will have to wait to hear how our times conpare to the other days. Hoping to send some Falcons to the city finals
Go Falcons Go!
April is Track and Field month at Frankland. Every student will be training in class for new personal bests. To help select the 2023 Track & Field Team for students in Grade 4-6 I will be recording data for events in class and in our clubs. Students can qualify for a max of 2 individual events and 1 relay team. Times and distances recorded in class and during clubs count towards picking the team.
80m Sprinting and Relay Team Club:
We practice every Monday and Wednesday at lunch from 11:35-12:35. This event is also recorded in class.
Jumping Club: (Running long jump, Standing long jump)
We practice every Tuesday and Thursday at Lunch from 11:35-12:35. Because there are 3 jumping events students need to listen to the announcements to know which event is jumping that day. Because the sand pit will be set up, Mr. Sykes will also record distances at Afternoon recess on these days. Only Standing long jump and Running Long jump will be recorded in class.
**PLEASE NOTE Triple Jump will not be offered this year because the Track Meet is only letting Grade 7/8 compete in the event.**
Hurdles Club:
We practice on Tuesdays after school from 3:30-4:10. Please make sure your Falcon has a travel home plan on this day. If you are picking them up please be on time. This event will not be trained or timed in gym class.
200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m Events:
We train every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the Running Club from 8:05am -8:35am. If it is raining the club is cancelled. Timing for these events will happen during the school day.
Extra Track and Field information:
- If a club is really popular and has too many students to successfully record data for all during one lunch, Mr.Sykes will divide the days by Grade. Students are asked to listen to the announcements on these days to find out which grades are training.
- Each lunch time club has 2 training days so if your falcons is taking part in another activity at School they can miss one of the 2 training sessions.
Running club is back at Frankland for all students in Grades 1-6. We run every Tuesday and Thursday morning starting on Tuesday April 4th: 8:05am - 8:35am. If it is raining the club is cancelled. Starting a student's day with exercise has countless benefits for learning and well-being. I hope to see lots of Falcons at the club:
- If your Falcon is in grade 1, a caring adult should be present at the club to help keep them motivated. (This applies to kinder siblings too)
- Parents are allowed and encouraged to run too!
- Parent volunteers will be needed each morning to hand out popsicle sticks and record laps
- Students in Grades 4-6 will use this club to train for these Track & Field events: 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m
**If it is raining the club is cancelled.**
The Boys Basketball team had a blast at the tournament at Whitney. We played 4 games. In the end we won 1 and lost 3. The teams from Lord Dufferin and Orde Street were really impressive teams to watch and play against. Thank you to all the players for dedicating so much time to building their basketball skills. I look forward to playing more basketball in the Fall. Good luck to our grade 6 Falcons who will be trying out for their grade 7 teams next year.
Congratulations to the Grade 5 volleyball team who played outstanding Tripleball volleyball today at Frankland. We won every single set against RH McGeogor and Secord. The last 2 and a half months has been a real treat for Ms. Byca and Mr. Sykes. Watching the Falcons build their volleyball skills is the best. Our serving was the strongest today. We also scored the most points off of the set play. I look forward to more volleyball next year.
We ended our season today as Semi-finalists. It was a really close game that went into overtime. Sadly the kids from Market Lane found the basket 2 more times than we did in the last shift. The Final socre was 41-37. I'm so proud of these boys for all their hard work and dedication. They have really raised the level of basketball at our school, which is a huge accomplishment.
TOURNAMENT RECAP
Congratulations to the Boys Basketball team who played 3 outstanding games at Frankland on Thursday. We are offically undefeated and moving to the South Quarter Finals. Our exhibition games vs. Withrow, Adam Beck and Westwood really helped this team come together. Coach Hubert you are the BEST!
The teamwork and support that this group of boys brings to the court is the blueprint I want to copy for every Falcon team! I'm so blessed to coach such committed athletes.
BREAK NEWS: Falcons get pushed to the semi-final round. Game will be played the week of feb 28!!
The Grade 6 Girls Volleyball team lost in the Semi-final round against Palmerston on Thursday March 2nd. Ms. Byca and Mr. Sykes are very proud of this group of dedicated athletes. Thanks for a great season. We hope you continue to play Volleyball in middle school!
Congratulations to the Grade 6 Girls Volleyball team who played an outstanding, 3 set, volleyball Quarter Final Vs JICS. The game was filled with a ton of great rallies. Mr. Sykes had to be the official for the game. Both teams had All-stars playing. It really was the best game of the season. We won and are off to the semi-Finals!!
Go Falcons Go
Congratulations to the Grade 6 girls Volleyball team who played 6 outstanding games at Winchester! Ms. Byca and Mr. Sykes are so proud of this team. So much heart, dedication and teamwork. We started the day really nervous, but as our confidence grew our true skills on the court came out. We shined! Ms. Byca set up our most successful 'Set Plays' and when asked what we need on the serve line, every falcon said "A POINT!"

The Quarter Final today at Annette was really exciting. The Falcons played as a team and showcased some of the BEST Boys Volleyball ever! There were tons of set plays, 3 touches off a serve and return, smashes, redirections, solid bumps, controlled volleys and so much more! The host school took our volleyball to the next level and we challenged them back on every point. The final scores were:
G1 25-18 Annette
G2 25-13 Frankland
G3 15 - 9 Annette
With these results the Falcons end their volleyball season. No more morning volleyball practice at this time. When the girls volleyball season wraps up, we will play a falcon vs falcon game in March.
I couldn't be more proud of these outstanding students. Each player had shining moments this season!
A special shout out and HUGE Thank you to Coach Saeed and Coach Sufyan who gave up countless mornings to help the boys practice their skills and come together as a team. The energy and focus they brought to practice was always appreciated!!!
We had a fun day at Winchester. The Falcons played some amazing basketball, switching defensive strategies mid game and taking tons of shots on net! So proud of this team! To have every grade 6 on the team was extra special for me. Thank you to Elena, our Grade 5 superstar for jumping in to help us. We ended the season with 1 win and 3 losses. Can't wait for all these Falcons to play basketball in middle schol. In the meantime they will be teaching kindergarten some dribbling skills. Next up Volleyball!
Congratulations to the Boys Volleyball team who came in second place yesterday at the Deer Park tournament and are moving on to the Quarter Finals!!! Go Falcons!!
Great sportsmanship, exciting rallies and a never give up attitude. The whole day was full of excitment. We lost the first game to Whitney. The falcons were not ready to give up because we won the next 2 games against Rosedale and Deer Park.
A repeat of the same results would have been 2 easy in the afternoon. Deer Park won their second game against the Falcons and so did Whitney. Thankfully Rosedale beat Deer Park in the afternoon and this opened the door to a second place finish. All we had to do was beat Rosedale. The final game came down to 3 close sets. The final score on set 3 was 15-12. So proud of amazing students! Quarter Finals here we come!
We had a Great race at the City Finals
Congratulations to Robbie, Mariella, Elena and Khloe!!!

When Do Students Arrive on Oct 11:
Students are asked to arrive at Frankland for 8:30am. Please meet at the Adventure playground doors (AKA lunch room doors). Students will come into the gym and line up by grade for attendance.
What your child needs on the day:
- Frankland shirt/gear (If you do not have Frankland gear a school pinny will be provided) Personal gear is always preferred (less laundry for JediSykes)
- Water bottle
- Running Shoes
- Comfortable athletic clothing
- Dress for the weather, dress in layers
- Umbrella/ Raincoat
- A garbage/recycle bag to keep thing dry in case of rain
- A quiet activity to do before their race (eg.Book)
- No money
- No baseball hats....They get lost easily
- Litterless Healthy lunch and snack. (Hand held lunches are better than fork and spoon meals)
Driving Plan: (Please check)
- The complete list is attached to this email. Please double check your child is on this list and in a car. Because we have so many drivers, parents in the 'BLUE' boxes are asked to arrive at 9am for pick up. The parents not highlighted are asked to arrive at 9:15am. This will hopefully relieve traffic.
- Parent drivers are asked to fill in a permission form in the office prior to driving. I can have these forms at running club on Wednesday (tomorrow) if that makes things easier for you.
What the meet looks like at SunnyBrook Park
- A map of the Sunnybrook is attached to this email.
- Mr. Mariano and Mr. Molina will be arriving before us to set up a white Frankland tent near the starting line. When parent drivers arrive please look for the Frankland tent/basecamp. Students will be asked to stay in the area near the Frankland tent. We will have a warm up area nearby.
When it is time for a race, Mr. Sykes will send the runners with parent volunteers to the start line. I usually send a few recycle bags to the start line too so runners can take off a jacket before the race. The parents who take the runners to the start line will meet the runners at the finish line and bring them back to the Frankland tent area. When all the students in a car have completed their races, the students will be brought back to Frankland.
Race Times:
Races can start up to 30 mins early. If you are planning to watch, don't be late. Our driving plan has us arriving extra early so no one misses their race
Grade 3 girls: 11:30AM
Grade 3 boys: 11:45AM
Grade 4 girls: 12:00AM
Grade 4 boys: 12:15PM
Grade 5 girls: 12:30PM
Grade 5 boys: 12:45PM
Grade 6 girls: 1:00PM
Grade 6 boys: 1:15PM
What Can Parents Volunteers Do At The Meet:
- Walk your child and their same grade classmates to the starting line before the race.
- Collect Frankland Runners at the end of a race. (Mr.Sykes will have lists and it's a super easy job)
- Help put race trackers on students
- Walk students to the bathrooms
- Cheer really loud for the Falcons
Running Trackers (New)
New this year, students will be given a running tracker before their race. When they cross the finish line it will record their place. I've never done this before so I will need help making sure everyone gets the right one.
Qualifying for the Conference Finals:
- Students who cross the finish line in the top 30 get to move on to the Conference final race.
- Teams: The first 4 students in a race, from each school, have their finish line scores added together. A low team score means the team gets to move to the conference.
End of day:
When students have finished their race they will check in with Mr.Sykes. When a returning car has all it's runners, the students will be brought back to Frankland
If I have missed anything, or if you have any questions, please email me. It's going to be a great day.

The Frankland Falcons played the Fern Falcons in the Quarter finals. Only one bird of prey could survive this playoff round... It was a great game, full of excitement. Thankfully the weather held out. Eleni's Pitching was on fire tonight. Pitching tons of strikes and strike outs. Making my job as the umpire very easy. On the rare occasion when the Fern Falcons did hit the ball the Frankland defence was ready to support. Our batting was red hot tonight with 6 runs being scored in the first inning. The second inning was a bit scary when fern had the bases almost loaded. The Frankland defence shut down their hopes of scoring a run with a big SS trap from Imogen and a throw to Avery on third! We had to wait until the bottom of the third before another 6 runs were scored. While we wanted to play another inning the 12-0 final score was plenty to secure our spot in the Semi-finals. Way to go Frankland Falcons! Every player on the team added to our success tonight. You made us proud!

Sports is more then just 'winning'. Working hard, seeing progress and supporting a group goal builds character.
