Program: Adobe Photoshop
Discipline: Image Manipulation, Composition, Photography
Course: TGJ3M, TGJ4O
As an introduction to Photoshop and image editing, your task will be to make two different “composites” where you combine two or more unrelated images to make them look as though they were photographed together. A composite is a simple term in image editing that means "put together".
Here's a very simple example is shown below. Notice how the backs of the chairs are placed in front of the fruits to show how they may actual fit in this scene.
You will produce two different pieces of artwork to demonstrate your abilities in Photoshop. You will be marked partly on how convincing your final image is, so keep that in mind! You will consider the small adjustments (lighting, colour, perspective and shadows) that need to be made to make your image look convincing.
Hand in your final composites image as a .png, as well as the original source images you used. Please name your files appropriately.
For each composite, find two or more high resolution images to combine. Your best place to look is Google Images, changing your search settings to find high quality images. In the menu bar, click on Search Tools. Then click on the tab labeled "Size" and click "Large." (You can specify even larger by using the "Larger than" tab.) This will only show you images that are larger than the lowest possible printing threshold, eliminating anything that is ridiculously small. Try and find original source material that is easy to cut out. Use the keyword “transparent” or “studio lighting” to avoid images that have shadows that blend into the background
Note: You should name your files with descriptive titles as you save them. Save them in a common location that you can locate easily. You will need all of your original files for your final submission.
Some inspiration: Combine two animals together, Change the sky to look like you’re on an alien world, Make a person into a weird cyborg, give them spatulas for hands, Photoshop a celebrity into a peculiar situation Add the sea or sky to an unsuspecting location, Make an animal or common household item appear unusually massive or small, Give the gift of flight to a flightless creature, Add a tree in the middle of the desert, Create a portal to another dimension/place on earth
