The Universal Product Code (UPC) is a barcode that is widely used worldwide for tracking trade items in stores. UPC consists of 12 digits that are uniquely assigned to each trade item. Laser scanners are able to quickly identify this code by measuring the distances between vertical black lines and each line’s thickness.
You’ll add a barcode to your completed design. Unfortunately, the barcode won’t be functional, as there is a fair bit of math needed to decide what that final “check digit” is at the end. If the math doesn’t add up, the barcode isn’t scannable. You will include a fake UPC with a 12-digit number of your choice. You can use an online barcode generator (search the web for one) or use a UPC font such as the ones found on DaFont. You can download and install these fonts on your computer and use them like any other font, type with numbers.
Your barcode should be placed on a solid white background to ensure it can be scanned easily by a laser scanner device.

Do a little research as to what ingredients you think would be included in your soft drink. Ingredients are always listed in order of highest quantity to lowest quantity. Water or Carbonated Water is almost always the first ingredient. Ingredients are almost always small and insignificant components of a design, tucked away behind the nutrition label, or in line with the UPC. Ingredients are generally listed in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, and sometimes in both English and French. Use a simple sans-serif font to achieve this.
