Each month CYS staff engage in conversations about confronting racial discrimination. This initiative challenges staff to reflect on their own bias and prejudice and how it impacts the work we engage in. The intention is for our staff to start or continue to disrupt the systems and barriers that hold the students we work with back.
If you are interested in doing some self-reflecting, please use the reflection question in this document as a starting point: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQT72QpCHlFIeZRug6GoDpzbOXUbdQQ03uOaUv1n_pj6fEaG4lgqtsqqffal79Au_UWFb93YTSBWw42/pub
In 2015, members of the Child and Youth Services Team came together and organized a poster contest for all TDSB students. The goal of the poster contest is to raise awareness of mental health, reduce the stigma, and support one another.
We have held the poster contest every year since during Children’s Mental Health Week. Each year we choose a different theme that supports Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing.
We are grateful to all of the school communities and students who have participated. We love your creativity and the beautiful art you create when you express yourselves.
Together we can raise awareness of mental health, reduce the stigma, and support one another!
We are happy to share the information for this years poster contest in support of children’s mental health week.
Children's Mental Health Week is May 6-10, 2024. This year our theme is all about all about students’ expressing who they are and finding their voice. This year’s theme is: My Voice Matters!
When we think of ‘Our Voice’ it includes our identities, values, the importance of speaking up and out, as well as, recognizing the power that our voice can have. Students shared their stories through visuals of how their voice matters.
The Child and Youth Services Poster Contest is open to all TDSB students, with prizes to be won in five categories. The winning designs will be announced on during Children's Mental Health week May 6th to 10th when we visit schools to share the news with students and their communities. We will also feature the posters on Social Media and throughout the TDSB in our buildings.
Please see the attached poster for contest details and submission information.
The deadline to submit contest entries is April 4, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
