Welcome to Child and Youth Services

Child and Youth Services staff provide support to individual students and their families, classrooms, and school communities across the Toronto District School Board. We assist students with their mental health and well-being needs, academic achievement, school engagement, and social-emotional development.

Building Relationships, Supporting Everyday Events

We are a group of over 500 Child and Youth Care practitioners working as Child and Youth Workers and Child and Youth Counsellors. We work within various roles and capacities. We are members of the multidisciplinary Professional Support Services team. https://www.tdsb.on.ca/About-Us/Professional-Support-Services

We do our work in what we call the life space. We support children and youth through everyday life events, challenges, and successes. We are in the schools where children and youth spend many hours of each day.

Relationships are the foundation of our work. We work from a strength-based developmental perspective and we centre the needs of the child in all that we do.

We value student voice and collaboration. We believe that we all can benefit from feeling included, supported, and cared for. We ensure that those who encounter support do so with dignity.

All members of the Child and Youth Services team are expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care. https://oacyc.org/code-of-ethics/
